Ok, so I've been absorbing all of the information out there since the announcement of the game like everyone else, and it hit me other day a way that seasons could be implemented in the already-confirmed 1-turn-per-year setting. This is entirely speculation on my part so feel free to shoot it down or praise it, but I just wanted to get it out there as I've not seen it around here yet.
This mechanic takes into consideration the potential movement points of every player-owned unit and agent currently produced/recruited and present on the campaign map. Once each turn begins, the amount of potential points is naturally at 100%. This opening phase of the turn will be set at the traditional beginning of the campaign season, or the Spring of every year. Then, and this ties into CA's previous statement that they are wishing to implement a more dynamic and responsive campaign map, the advancement of the seasons corresponds with the spending of that initial collective pool of movement points across all theatres of war.
Consider: You want to start with your most powerful and prestigious campaigning armies as your turn opens, and they will naturally be fighting in the Spring and Summer months as their spent points tick away at the initial pool, then once Fall and Winter arrive, more non-essential and tertiary forces are issued commands, up until the point the turn ends with snow covered ground on the clicking of "End Turn" button.
In conclusion this is just a thought, but I think would make for a very immersive campaign experience, and would serve to marry 1-TPY and changing of seasons in a cool new way. Eh?
