Changing names?

I read a question before re names of family members,cohorts,armies etc,and whether or not anything can be changed. I can't find it again to re-read it though.
Is it possible to change names of family members? If so how?
Also, is there a way to add a tag or description to an army so that I can know what it is easily. Ex : "3rd Cavalry unit", or "Creten Archer Group".
Or what would be good would be if you could add/edit a small pop-up box like a tool-tip, that would come up when you moused over a unit on the campaign map.

I'm new to this, but it sounds like some editing can be done through a text editor like Notepad?

Look in descr_strat.txt, and make sure you use names that are present in descr_names.txt.

Would you just like add a "name" to the list of names e.g roman section? and By random it may come up?

Yes, you would also need to add entries to names.txt in the text folder and descr_names_lookup.txt
