Default Do you try to rebalance your EDU at all?

I've been trying to figure out a good way to make Gondor and Rohan a bit less squishy and the elves a bit more so, espescially in MOS. I get the whole "elves are supposed to be powerful and expensive" thing, but with all the free troops and money the AI gets that never really seems to be an issue.

Something rather odd I notice about MOS is that they seem to vary the hidden "min attack delay" stat a whole lot more in case you get confused about why certain units seem to be really good and others not very. The elven factions seem to have had all their attack delays reduced to 0 while most other troops have their delays set up to 5 or 6 seconds (even more than 10 for some dwarven units). From messing around a bit even spear militias seem to become pretty awesome if you give them 0 attack delay.

The one other thing I've been doing has been adding on more armor upgrade ranks to most units in order to try and make upgrade buildings a bit more important/useful.

Not really as I can't be bothered to do it and in general, I consider the balance fair. Besides, messing around in scripts is very soon crossing the line with cheating and it will become impossible to do hotseat games, playthroughs and make guides.,

I mess with the EDU all the time, but I'd hardly call what I do "rebalancing"

Yep, the first modding I ever did was messing around in the EDU. Now I make a point not to touch it because I am so naturally prone to munchkinism that I always make an uber-race and totally break the game.

Yeah, it certainly makes things a lot easier. On the other hand, I'll always bring fewer units to the battle so the odds will still be evenly matched, or even against me. I'm a sucker for "few against many", I guess

No. I consider it cheating to modify it in any way.

Only if you do it to gain an advantage.

I modded my EDU to give elves less arrows. Their vollys are deadly with Armor pen, and high dammage. They can kill any unit and wipe out 2/3 if you have 5 archer units.

Constantly! I've lost entire days having fun tinkering with the EDU. It's only cheating if one's intent is to skew the balance of the game unfairly in one's favour. Personally, my intent when modding the EDU is to deliver a specific gameplay experience that is true to my interpretation of Middle Earth while maintaining a challenging level of difficulty. Tinkering is all part of the fun, really
