    Default Phyrrus' Fate

The game starts on 272 B.C. the year Phyrrus dies.

I think that just like Shogun 2, the first battle of the campaign will be against some enemy on your territory *in this case a Macedonian Army*

If you win the battle, Phyrrus survives, if you lose the battle, well he dies.

I honestly believe, that playing Epirus without Phyrrus is not the same as playing Epirus with Phyrrus.

His name was Pyrros. A latinisation of his name is Pyrrus or Pyrrhus or whatever. Phyrrus is a bit funny in Greek

Now ofc he will be alive at the beginning else Epeiros would be out.

Most likely you are right there will be an army ready for battle at 1 turn. Well, if you play as Epeiros and he dies, you start over so no problem

BUT since at 272 he is around 40 years old AND we have 1 turn per year, even if he survives he 'll die relatively soon (maybe 20 turns?)

And that's really sad and irritating

Nobody said Epeiros stopped existing after Pyrros. But it was much less of a threat after he died.

Pyrrus is a must, he is what makes Epirus and one of the factions abilites is command so why not start out with an epic character.

I would expect the game's prologue (tutorial) to include this character in some ways.

I think Dominic mentions about the game will be as historical at 272bc which I guess at the start of the game but then game play takes over when the interviewer asked something about how historical the game will be. It's around the middle of the interview.

All I can hear is only one time they mention about start date was in the E3 vid something like "this is late game about 200 turns passed" or similar to that. No mention to certain start date.

    9.15 onwards.

'For history the player starts off with a snap-shot of history, so it's 272 BC you have italy, you have Gaul, you have Egypt... after that you let the player go'.
'When people stop believing in God, they don’t believe in nothing — they believe in anything. '

Egypt starts with Petra and Alexandria (2 walled cities), and the whole province of Aegyptus (could be subject to change however). It looks like, in the screenshot, that they lost 2-3 territories and one of those is succumbing to civil war (not quite sure).

I would love if Pyrrhus is in the game right off the bat, it wouldn't be the same faction without him. It would also be interesting to play as him but to actually receive aid from the rest of Greece through some alliances or just straight up diplomacy to fully take Sicily against Carthage and Rome. I am currently fine with the amount of siege cities and regions/provinces, but there are just a few... like Sicily that I believe should be a separate province due entirely to Carthage, Rome, and Epirus wrestling for control there.

As far as I know, there haven't been any confirmed starting date announced yet. But one of the screenshots released showed a ptolemaic campaign in 271BC, and it looks like it's a few turns in. So the campaign will probably at least start before 271BC.

It's probably early gameplay but i doubt it's the start date since egypt doesn't own all regions shown at their faction description
