    Default The Wailers

Since I got their Legends album about 4-5 years ago I've been a big Wailers fan, but only now can I truly appreciate their worldy perfection. I have every album they have realeased and many of their not so well known tracks. Between their solo careers (Bob, Bunny, and Peter) and the time they spent together as Bob Marley and the Wailers, they have produced some of the best, if not the best Reggae music I've ever heard. To many great songs to start naming them off, but I'm listening to Mr. Brown right now and the begenning is simply amazing.

I think it's sad that some people don't like Reggae but enjoy the Wailers, but I'm very proud to have the Wailers representing the very best of the Reggae World.

Any other Wailers fans out there? And if it's possible list a few of your favorite songs, as every one of theirs is my favorite.

Yeah, right here. I'm not really a diehard fan of Marley and Co. but I do listen to them occasionally. Personally like "Exodus" and "Get Up, Stand Up" and "Jamming". Though I've only heard a small portion of what they've written

Its good to hear that at least a few others here listen to the Wailers. I really can't empasize enough what they've done for my life. Such inspirational music for me that it helped form who I am today. I never thought I'd say that music influenced the way I live my life, but it has and continues to in a good way.

Bob Marley carried the Wailers, IMO. He's the best of the three and elevated the music to another level when the two left (plus the band became his).

The one-drop rhythm is unique in music though and Bob's the best. To quote Carlos Santana:

"I'm not trippin' on that at all. All I want to do is to turn people on to John Coltrane and Bob Marley. I'm not a show business guy at all."

There are too many Bob Marley songs, but my some of my favorites:

    One Drop
So Much Trouble In the World
    Guiltiness
    Easy Skanking
Sun Is Shining (I prefer the Kaya album version)
    The Heathen
    Africa Unite

    some Wailers:

    Redder than Red
    Riding High
    Mr. Brown
Soul Shakedown Party (there's a really funky version of it).

Hmmm, well I'd have to disagree with you there. Marley by far had the most melodic voice, however Tosh easily wrote the best lyrics and bunny could carry a note like no other.

And all those songs you've listed I love aswell. The begenning of Mr. Brown is a short melodic trip in its own right.

IMO, Marley's solo output was way better than his Wailers output. His is like 5 songs in melded into one. Songs like "Time Will Tell" has so many layers.

I just feel that his songs are more beautiful and memorable. And Tosh didn't write too many songs, although a great songwriter and tremendous guitarist. And Bunny, I only have 2 of his albums, the nice Blackheart Man and his 2-disc covers tribute to Marley.

And all those songs you've listed I love aswell. The begenning of Mr. Brown is a short melodic trip in its own right.
It's an eerie and catchy song. I like it when Bob sings: "Is Mr. Brown controlled by remote?" :tooth:

I like Bob Marley covers. And it is a very nice cover.

Great "Heathen" cover for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w2gaCXM1XI

Yeah, it's a great song. It's one of his most covered too, along with No Woman No Cry.
