Default Where do these huge armies keep coming from?

In every campaign I can barely afford a half decent army, yet everyone keeps declaring war on me and more importantly keeps sending huge stack after huge stack I have rage quitted my 5th campaign today. And I'm ashamed of this, but rage shouted at my todler to STFU and Leave me the frack alone.

Where do these huge armies keep coming from?

Something is telling me that the campaign is heavily scripted or something and that the AI is pulling full experienced armies from thin air.

It's getting frustrating to feel like I'm playing against a super cheater

BTW, what did you played with? What Difficulty?

The AI always cheats at TW...they have Bonus Money per turn, Extra Recruitment Stot, Extra Movement Points...especially at Higher Difficulty Levels...

I play at normal, because I don't want to be the wimp who plays on easy whilst 90% of people boast that they play on hard!

I got me some mods, and it's better now, game seems more fair

You're mixing Empire's difficulty with Shogun's. I'd say most people here play Shogun on Normal. I can't source this, just from observation.

I'm laughing so hard LOL about bold text.

By the way, on normal I think its should be easy for beginner now, maybe you must done something wrong like there.

    -You expanding too fast
    -You don't care others
-You do something make others hate you
Its easy to make war with others, its never been easy when we need a peace.

My holy damn simple tactic; Strike First, Strike HARD and SHOW NO MERCY.

I turtle and trade basically, when I do get dragged in a war it's because of my allies

What I also don't understand is when I do start to expand the emperor notices me and the shogun pulls the realm divide. At the same time I see the Shimazu conquering half of Japan and nothing happens?

Realm Divide only affects the player, the AI does not have a "Fame" stat.

Realm Divide only exists to alleviate a common problem in TW is that, around the mid-game, the player has already "won", because they're too strong to take down and the AI will never unite against you to stop you from winning the game. RD makes the end-game still potentially a defeat for the player, by making everyone team up against you, instead of just allying the strongest, and picking off the weak ones until you reach your victory number and win.

I'm pretty sure that the AI don't cheat on normal and below.

The only major bonus the AI gets over the player on normal is that it doesn't suffer any unhappiness from province resistance to being conquered (this is also applied on easy, mind you). Units are actually more expensive to recruit and upkeep for AI than player on normal (+10% recruit cost & +7% upkeep over the values shown in encyclopedia vs human player getting -5% cost and -5% upkeep). They have a minor (500 per turn) income bonus when they're directly at war with the player, otherwise they don't have any income advantage over player either.

I'd very much assume most people on these boards play Hard or above. There isn't much difference between Easy Normal and Hard, Very Hard (and Legendary by extension) adds a lot of bonuses to the AI like an extra recruitment slot in all castles that drastically changes how it behaves.

The AI is too bad to actually do well so CA just give them more bonus' to increase the challenge. It sucks, but what you probably gotta do, is wait a while, earn trade and money and only build up an army when you have large reserves of money.

Make sure you're not at war with a lot of clans at the same time, it's best to frequently check the diplomacy tab and make lots of trade agreements and some alliances. Also keep in mind that the other clans don't like it when you're doing dishonourable things such as looting castle towns or declaring war on allies. Those will give you a massive penalty to diplomatic relations and will make the other clans hostile.

They come out of nowhere mostly because they use alot of castles at once to recruit armies. I've vassaled the Ikko-Ikki and I've observed them help me take out half of the Hojo (They had most of the northern land) by recruiting an insane amount of things at once. Not sure if anyone else has observed this in other clans you may have vassaled since the Ikko-Ikki are the only clan I've vassaled that have actually expanded, but that's what I've seen so maybe that how your enemies have been pulling their armies from god-knows-where because they have a never ending recruitment line across a number of provinces. Not sure where they'd get the XP unless they have higher upgraded dojos and such.

Be careful, a vassaled clan that's expanding often declares war on you when it's strong enough.

I cut off it's expansion so it's restricted to 3 provinces. I'm already past realm divide so they should stay loyal to me. I've only really got them as a distraction for when the Oda decide they don't like me after we simultaneously dominate Japan. I never trust my alliances and Vassals anyhow, I always have a full strong army near them incase they decide to pull a stunt on me.

The AI doesn't spawn stacks out of nowhere, and removing the "AI cheating" from higher difficulties just makes them normal difficulty, not like there's any special code there for super duper AI behavior.
