Default Request, CA Let the info flow.

After your shows, and you folks rest up a bit. I think the akward dating thing is over, lets see those boobies. CA let the flood gates open...release the kraken! Please. How about some more frequent raw gameplay videos and screenshots, tid bits of info and unit stats.

I don't mean anything fancy just stuff to the forum communities. No big productions, a few mins of videos and some pics now and then just takes a few minutes of time from someone already testing.

    Just my request..no big woop.

    Cheers

Im eagerly waiting for some 1v1 battles and a campaign story as Rome or Carthage. (I know you like to play as Carthage Dom Starr)Hopefully in a month time. I would even go as far as donating 50 euro`s for a campaign let`s play. Just some pictures and tekst would do if im entertained for some minutes each week.

I want to feel up the campaign map more than anything else. I spend a lot of time there.

Agreed. While I do not think I am asking for the world, R2TW comes out in 79 days and we know very little about the game. They could (should) have been releasing a screenshot, unit pic, unit profile, tech tree info, a single trait, or a weapon description, etc. Imo very few people know about this game outside of the TW and/or strategy realm of video games.

I do not play video games that much, I have never owned a console and only own about 6-7 games. Most of my friends do not play video games or very few, yet I know they can name the CODs, Halos, etc. I bet they have never heard of Total War or Creative Assembly.

This was CA's big chance (with their biggest budget ever by a longshot) to market and get their name/game known and they failed at that. I am not sure what their marketing tactics are, but they are not doing a good job. You cannot attract a new audience if they do not know you exist.

They need to start throwing a lot info at us starting with Rezzed and ending with the launch date, and should have been since Christmas 2012.
When Hiero returned to besiege their base (Messana) in 265 BC the Mamertines called for help from a nearby fleet from Carthage, which occupied the harbor of Messana. Seeing this, the Syracuse forces retired, not wishing to confront Carthaginian forces. Uncomfortable under the Cathaginian "protection," the Mamertines now appealed to Rome to be allowed into the protection of the Roman people. At first, the Romans did not wish to come to the aid of soldiers who had unjustly stolen a city from its rightful possessors. However, unwilling to see Carthaginian power spread further over Sicily and get too close to Italy, Rome responded by entering into an alliance with the Mamertines. In response, Syracuse allied itself with Carthage, imploring their protection. With Rome and Carthage brought into conflict, the Syracuse/Mamertine conflict escalated into the First Punic War.

Interesting point, you know a TV spot would not hurt but who knows maybe the shows and magazines will be enough. I hear already most preorders on steam..

They kinda had to purposely hold back some info so they had stuff to show at E3 and Rezzed. Once Rezzed is done, I'm sure we will get a steady flow. Plus they said they are almost in beta, so everything should be pretty much ready to show now.

TV ads can be expensive, but effective. I am not sure what their marketing budget was, but if they could not afford TV ads guerrilla marketing would have been best. Ads in video game magazines would have been almost worthless because casual gamers do not subscribe to them. So those that would read those ads would have already known about the game for the most part.

And I am skeptical about the most preoders on steam. Maybe the current most preorders on steam, but I doubt R2TW beat out other blockbusters like Skyrim, Borderlands 2, CoH2, etc. I have been watching who has been leading sales on steam and such, its the businessman in me. I hope you are right, though. The more sales the bigger and better the next game.

While I understand that they cannot release big things before beta that they are not sure will be final, they still could have been releasing a lot more info than they have. Like I said, do an instagram or twitter of a few shots of a unit or description of a battle, like what modders do in updates here, I mean little consistent things (reminders). And they needed to start way earlier than a few months before. I knew more about Mass Effect 4, the new Halo, Assassin's Creed 4, etc. than I did about Rome 2 a month ago. Christmas 2012 was perfect. A bunch of people on steam and looking for new games they wanted to buy, why not let them know what was coming soon while they were already looking? A lot of developers start out sometimes years before release date.

For me personally I would rather be surprised playing the actual game rather having too much info given earlier. To be honest what else info we need for Rome II besides actual new features ? It's still a total war game just like the original Shogun more than 12 years ago.

Still waiting on battle footage from something other than a historical battle. Where, you know, the AI isn't entirely scripted to do the same thing over and over.

So essentially I still haven't seen any in-game footage of the game I'll be playing because I don't play historical battles. 11 weeks!

I do find it weird how I'm not seeing screenshots of the game. Normally whenever a big game is coming out the Marketing and PR Departments throw trailers and and screenshots showing off the game etc. I feel like it's sort of lacking even though everyone knows that this is a HUGE game.
