    Default Post Your Future Conquests!

Have you already started strategizing how you are going to reforge Alexanders Empire or stick it to the Romans and conquer their historical territory as Carthage. Then post your planned routes and tactics here!

I'll start. With the inclusion of Naval seiges and sacking by barbarian factions I've been thinking of doing one of my favourate historical strategies: Raids, Viking style.
So here is my 4 stage plan to sack every coastal city in the mediteranean area as the Iceni, soon to be know as The Blue Menace.

    Stage 1, conquer British Isles:
Stage 2, Establish Buffer states allong Gallic coast for extra income and to protect against invasion of homeland.

Stage 4, Build biggest fleet possible and sack Every Coastal city around the Mediteranean and Black Sea

Before stage 4 you'll probably have to conquer more than you have by the end of stage 3 in order to build and sustain a fleet big enough to actually defeat the likes of Rome, Carthage and Egypt, but I imagine I'll just conquer the rest of the Gallic and Spanish Coasts and maybe all the way to northern Germany.
This Strategy requires the barbarian factions to have descent ships, but if they don't have I'm sure their stats will be moddable.

(The map is made by CanOmar I only edited it. It can be found: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...awings-CanOmer)

First thing I'm going to do as Carthage is build up a strong navy and trade, conquer Mauritania and half of Africa province, march on the southern and eastern shores of the Iberian peninsula then destroy Rome in the most glorious of naval/land sieges. That's my plan anyways lol Carthage has always been my favorite faction since Rome 1 (and high school history, who isn't drawn to Hannibal?) Rome will suffer!

Can't say, I will play with Athens and I would rather help Sparta and other greeks rather than destroying then
That would depend on how will work diplomacy

Love it. Playing as a Greek Cultures state and working with them to beat off other factions.

Athenians will be the next trend after Spartans, especially after RomeII and "300:The rise of an Empire"

Awesome idea for a thread! A much needed break from the Great Capture Point Wars and the likes.

I don't have the time to make colorful visual aids like you OP, but here is my plan in a nutshell:
    Playing as the Arverni:
    1) Conquer the whole province where my home region is
    2) Unite all the tribes of Gaul and also conquer Marseille
    3) Keep one or two armies to defend the homeland and send one to conquer the British isles, to boost my income
    4) Conquer the Iberian Peninsula
    5) Take on Rome, occupy northern Italy and make the Roman republic a client state, just for fun
    6) Invade Germania
    7) At this point I should have won the game, if not I may continue and conquer the world, or get bored and start another campaign as Rome

Well, this is my battle plan for the beginning of the campaign.:

The green lines in the attachement are trade routes/alliances I want to set up.
    1. As Sparta first conquer Crete (red line).
    2. Next are Athens and Larissa (Yellow line).
    3. Then I will conquer the province of Asia (Blue line).
    4. From those regions I will attack Macedon from two angels (purple lines).
    5. After conquering Macedon I will occupy the whole of thrace (orange line).

I'll play as the Macedon, of course, and am planning to reassemble the Alexander's empire once again, and even conquer further to the west.
The campaign will be consisted of few phases:
    1. Black one: Uniting all Greece and the Balkans (conquering Athens, Sparta via force; Then probably making an alliance with Epirus, or rather conquering them. After doing so, I'll be heading towards the Black Sea, taking out the Thracian lands and Painonia). After this phase being done, I'll make up the trade routes with the Romans and some Western civilizations and then will prepare for the next one.
    2. Red one: Taking out the Asia Minor completely; Then going out to Egypt, including the Crete and Cyprus.
    3. Green one: This phase will probably be the toughest out of all, as I'll be going further to the east, reclaiming Babylon and going to the far Hindus. It'll be hard to maintain the new borders though, as I'll definitely have some problems back in Macedonia with Romans or allies (Epirus) betraying me. Will have to think about this part a bit more...
    4. Brown one: This phase will be mostly concentrated onto maintaining/polishing the current borders (probably attacking some more factions around the Black and Caspian Sea, and sending some generals to the Magna Graecia). After finishing this phase, I'll try to get an alliance with Rome and to take down Carthage.
Here's the full picture for checking this campaign out:

I have a lot of respect for you.. as I'll be doing pretty much the same thing. However, it is to be remembered that Rome will be very aggressive. I am expecting them to threaten me early on (by the end of phase 1 for you, start of phase 2). So I am tempted to either start strong diplomatic relations with them, or send out an army to try and make them my vassal. This way, I can continue to conquer the East.

One thing that I will definitely add one to this is to destroy Carthage. Alexander never had the chance to do this, but I will. The Greeks were not too fond of Phoenicians and I will make sure to show this in my campaign. I expect to sack a few cities.

    Hahaha Good thread, dude!
Well...I'm going to make sure the entire Italian Peninsula is mine! Going to block off any mountain passes going through the northern Alps, especially the one near Noricum. As soon as I can defend this nicely, I'll be sending out entire legions up north past the mountain range to harass Germanic tribes, since there should be some nice, easy to take look. Any retaliations can be sorted out via the forts blocking the mountain passes. I'm going to make sure Sicily, and those other two islands directly to the west are mine too.

After a while has passed, Germanic population is much more lower and I'm looking to strike it rich, I'll send out my most experienced Legion to pull of a surprise invasion of Athens (hopefully it's a land/sea battle to take that city). Sack it, take all the money, destroy all the buildings so it would take anyone who takes it or the Athenians themselves a while to regain any strength and then head back home I never plan to keep far away settlements. Hopefully Sparta or Macedonia will take the settlement when I leave. Then, just do the same to everyone else. Oh yeah, if there is a minor faction with the Romans on the Italian peninsula, I want to get an alliance with them and financially aid them. Two against the world haha...until he backstabs me and then I sack him.

How amazing would it be if that little ally of mine never backstabbed me throughout my campaign because I was genuinely being friendly and protecting them? That would be badass AI!!!

For me the first faction I will be playing in singeplayer will be Rome

Step 1. Seize all of the regions/provinces in Italy. (going from the assumption 1 province = 1 legion I now have 4 legions to work with)

Step 2. Send 1 well equipped & 1 meager we'll call it army to conquer the Corsica & Sardinia islands while 1 well equipped and 1 meager army stays home to defend = 2 more legions !

Step 3. At this point with my theory I now have 6 legions at my disposal ! I will leave 1 well equipped legion on the Corsica & Sardinia Islands raise 2 new meager equipped legions and send them along with the 2nd legion sent to Corsica & Sardinia to take both the settlements in Sicily.

Going from the map and my theory I now have access to 8 legions. 1 legion will remain on Corsica for the defense of it & Sardinia, 1 very well equipped legion in Sicily & 2 Legions will remain in Italy for any incoming sea invasions from Illyria more than likely.

That leaves me with 4 possible legions to send north into Cisalpina.

Step 4. I will then send those 4 legions to take Cisalpina.

Step 5. After that I will make sure I leave atleast 1 legion in that province and start building a good defense from the barbarians in the north and launch a full scale assault into Provincia and then into all of the Iberian Peninsula making it all mine.

Step 6. I will build up all of my provinces defenses (especially in Italy and the borders in the north to make sure no dirty barbarians try and sack my newly established provinces) After that I'm not sure. I may head south for Carthage and Egypt but for the time being I'd build up my new provinces until i decided what to do next.

    (Step 2 = Green)
    (Step 3 = Blue)
    (Step 4 = White)
    (Step 5 =Yellow)
    (Step 6 = Purple)

    NICE!
For me personally though, I find massive regions too off-putting. It just seems like a nightmare capturing settlements that are out in the open. The Italian peninsula is amazing to capture and hold because of the few little points people can sneak into. However, going into Iberia or way up north will take some serious preparation, in my opinion.

I'm thinking, to take the northern provinces, it will require some tactics that the Romans actually used. For example, befriend one tribe and help them conquer the other. Either keep them as allies, or take them out at the right time etc.

Do you find expanding into open areas hard? You seem like you got it all worked out. With my play-style, I'm good at taking and holding areas with few entry points but find it hard taking care of settlements out in the open

Haha well honestly speaking I think everything up to Step 4 will be relatively easy to do (as long as Carthage is kicked off Sicily by the smaller faction on the western side of it)

But for me advancing west into Iberian territory will require I send atleast 5 Legions (going off of my theory 1 province = 1 more legion/army you can raise and thus I'd have 10 provinces at Step 4) and seeing as 5 legions will be defending my current territories I can send them to preform a 5 pronged attack into Iberian territory.

Now the 1 thing im excited about is what I'm going to encounter down there From what I've skimmed over online it seems there were many tribes and they were very sneaky and liked to ambush foreign invaders (i believe Hannibal had this happen to him near the province provincia when he was headed for Rome) and the terrain

has me just as curious to see if my drilled professional Roman units will be able to deploy their battle tactics.

I understand what you mean but I'm not going anymore north than Provincia and Cisalpina. I will be setting up major defenses as best I can while campaigning in Iberia and afterwards will devote all my resources to ensure no barbarians will reach my new lands depending on terrain.

I will probably never go into northern europe until I conquer more southern provinces but you can count on my defenses being top notch to make sure no one comes knocking.

To me it will be great when I finally am ready to take on the barbarian hordes and they are 1 huge super power of hundreds of thousands of angry barbarians united for 1 cause: ROMAN BLOOD

I really wanna see how Roman cohorts stay in formation and steamroll the barbarian hordes and also wanna see ruthless ambushes by the barbarians on my un-suspecting legions !!

    Raikou,

Your enthusiasm, plotting and scheming has got me running scenarios in my head now. I have similar plans in mind. I just hope the AI can be challenging and put a wrench in the works sometimes.
