Ah, finally, a something new for today! Thanks!
RTWRM - back to basics
No problem! My pleasure. He gave some new information away especially about historical side missions that give you bonuses if you take and complete them. I like that![]()
Thanks OP..rep
All this is the same video BUT seems a bit more Zoomed in worth another look at it!
Not something really new, but quite pleasing anyway, thanks mate!![]()
I have faith in this new campaign. Allows more to happen. Hated having to burns turns to get a good invasion force. Cities look beautiful, however I will admit that the lack of main ones does hurt my feelings, but I know this campaign will be sweet as hell. I'm hyped for this game. Sure historical accuracy is being sacrificed in terms of number of cities etc., but people seem to keep forgetting one thing; CA strive to make it fun and playable for longer. NO TIME LIMIT for the campaign!
The reason CA went for this angle was because of how much us guys kept auto-battling. They have a point, and with these new changes, CA has my vote! People seem to hate on Dom now, but just wait, a few hours on that campaign, Dom will probably become a celebrity. I have a feeling this campaign style will be way better than ever.
Shame we won't get any personal feelings for any specific characters because of the short lifespan, but I think that the new features this type of gameplay will bring in will heavily outweigh the negatives. CA knows what they are doing. As far as I can see, every TW game has only gotten better after each release. Just wait, guys.
Well, i can't wait for the game to get released, really looking forward to RTW II.

So what do you guys think of Historical side missions?
I think it adds a little variety to the campaign since I'm assuming it's not going to happen all the time?
Like for example for you it occurs in Turn 20 Rezza but for me it occurs in Turn 50 and we both take different methods in handling it.
But it's a side mission anyways so you don't have to do it. If you think the rewards are enough to take the risks then yeah.
It's no more different in previous total war games where Faction B will send an ultimatum to Faction C to break off ties and declare war on Faction A if you don't ally with Faction B. Either you accept or don't.didn't mean "forced" as forced to accomplish the mission. I mean historically forced. You all know History is most of the time a series of actions and reactions, a long line of consequences. For example, if a side mission tells you to declare war con Carthage in a game where it is your ally and you are entirely focusing on conquering Gaul, or Macedon, or whatever, will feel forced, in a sense that the Senate would never ask you to do that at such a time.
Didn't Jack say that there's no time limit? In any case it's completely irrelevant since we can take however long we want to finish the game. One Turn per years is so we can experience the entire 400 years of history in 400 turns. If you want 4 or 12 turns per year then make mods.
We won't be forced. It'll just be an optional thing. Like the missin for Britain in Empire in which one had to capture certain cities so that the Thirteen Colonies joined the faction. Didn't have to do it if you didn't want to.
They are called historical side missions. Not main missions. They won't be forced you will be able to cancel them and not follow them at all. Dom Star says that they will have some bonuses if you do them though. Which sounds nice.

And on a more positive note, I thought Dominique Starr was a pretty sharp and educated professional who knew wtf he was talking about.. unlike all the haters. Here's a guy friggin had a key hand in making that *amazing* campaign map. Kudos to you Dominique, loved the interview and keep up the hard work!
Thread cleaned.
Let's stay on topic about the video and avoid attacking other members.
I wonder how this side-mission will be. I hope not like in previous titles. They were honestly very weak. In the end i got often some crap units i just dismissed after getting them. Would be cool to get some unique and exotic units over them, which can't be recruited regulary.
Proud to be a real Prussian.
This was an odd video. It was like he was trying to toe the line between not wanting people to think this game teaches history while also sort of saying the game is based on history. I mean, most people buying Rome 2 have an interest in history, so there's no reason to be such a girl about whether or not you can "learn" things. We all know the now infamous "historical authenticity" stance, so he shoulda just focused on that and talked about how they are as historically accurate / authentic as possible while also making a fun game that history fans and non-history fans alike can love.
CA's messaging is almost as bad as Microsoft's these days.
