My thread was closed. Suggestion.

Hey there, I made a thread recently that got closed. It was closed because it contained a video for a new Youtube series I've started. In the first hour the thread was up, I never received one negative comment and gained some subscribers. The people seemed happy with what I was doing. I was of the mindset that I can post videos as long as I keep it in 1 thread. That's the way it is in the Shogun 2 section of the forums. I read the rules here before I posted and didn't see anything that said I couldn't post a video. I was posting the video here, not just to get views or subs, but to ask people about topics and comments that could be discussed in the video. The thread was closed by StealthFox

My issue just lies with the fact I wasn't informed why, or what to do in order to post it later on, in the appropriate section. Advertising is not allowed it would seem. It will be impossible for the video series to do any numbers, If I can't even create one thread asking for feedback about what to do in the next one. Basically, I want to know where I can post it looking for help, I understand if that rule is in place it's to keep from having 100's of videos topping the forum and wrecking it, but I think there should be a section where it is permitted, and also that the mods should explain more what's going on. I've been a long time member and never post spam.

Well here's the thing, I didn't post this angrily, I didn't do it out of spite or anything. My videos have had crap views for a long time, I really dont mind, I enjoy editing and doing them. The problem is, or was that I could post videos before, I had read the rules, and I felt I was following them again with this new video. Then I actually do a good video, and it gets blocked. There is alot of venom coming out of people in this thread, and Im sorry I didn't mean to enrage anybody. The "Suggestion" part of the title, is that maybe there should be a place where content creators can post their videos, let's plays newscasts or whatever. And also to have a more clear ruleset as several people have mentioned there is an inconsistency with what's allowed and isnt. Thats all.

I don't think your thread was closed because it contained a youtube video. That's allowed as far as I know. Your thread was closed because it's not allowed to advertise your channel on these forums.

Well I'm not exactly clear on the rules here, because I've seen plenty of people advertise their channel within threads already made without punishment or thread closing. I just don't think it's allowed to make a thread just for advertising your channel. You're going to have to PM Stealthfox or another Moderator and ask.

So... I can post a video as long as I didn't create it? Clear rules need to be established here. In the Shogun 2 section a mod told me I can post videos I made as long as it was kept to 1 mother thread.

If I was the mod I wouldve said "hey holyroman, heres what you should do to change your post so it is in keeping with the rules" instead of just locking the damn thing.

OP: TWC moderators always explain the reasons for their actions. Read the last post in the thread that was closed and if you have objections then you can raise them to the Tribunal. However, as other already mentioned, then it seems like a perfectly valid reason to close your thread.

Wrong there . I had a VIDEO campaign topic deleted yesterday and on one knows who did it but i think they are looking who and the why as i am.

That is true, but then they are garbage threads that belongs in the bin so no need to comment them

Have you ever received an infraction? They explain clearly why you have received it and link/quote the post. Professional moderation in my opinion - it does not matter if you believe the infraction was deserved or not.

The reason was given pretty clearly man: you can't advertise your channel on the forum. Just read the closing post made by the moderator.

Some members are allowed to advertise their channels, while others are not. I've seen it happen a lot of times, the moderator's don't seem to be very consistent when it comes to working against personal advertisement on these forums.
Really a shame, because the moderator's seem to be doing a good job, just not on this subject.

@titular Greve af Gøteborg (Skåne, Halland and Blekinge is Danish lands!): Advertising is against the ToS, so any thread should be closed and the OP should get an infraction for violating the ToS. Just my opinion.

Yes of course, I am against advertising. But moderators have showed tolerance towards certain members (not going to mention any names). Which makes their ruling on this subject inconsistent.

You should bring this complaint/accusation up in the right forum - not here. If you're not comfortable posting this complaint, you could PM one of the senior TWC guys. I would recommend Major Darling for this.
