    Default Enthusiasm

I find my enthusiasm for the game since E3 dropped by a little bit. Now I'm not here to bash on the game or anything like that. You guys know me and how excited I am always about this game. And I know some will attack what I say. Its okay, I understand. As always I feel really excited about the game, more than any game I think in my entire life.
But since E3 Ive found myself feeling...lost.
The Campaign Map looked and behaved amazing, I'm very excited for it. But the battle seemed a bit off to me.
Despite the capture points, chariots, catapults, graphics and basically animations, I feel that the grand showing of the campaign map along with the battle was underwhelming. The points I just pointed out bother me the most along with the crappy camera they filmed the game with.
I know I know the game isnt finished and there is alot of room for for improvement. But for some reason I got the feeling that they wouldn't change much from the points above, they maybe just might tweak it.
Idk, what do you guys think, did the E3 presentation encourage you or did it drop your enthusiasm a bit.
I guess I just feel a bit mixed.

I kinda just want the game to be out already, I mean the battles at E3 was the weakest of the three they've showed so far but the game has so much to offer I just want to play the damn thing.

I agree with you Roman, I watched the carthage video like at least 14 times, I watched the tuetonberg video at least 17 times. Ive watched this video 6 times and have had enough of it already. It just seems so shotty. And for a game that means alot to all of us, they should have showed something better. But I guess it cant be helped.

Sun Jetzu be patient for Rezzed. I think we will get much less mixed and much more concerete positive views from there. As always i think the people are being a little too picky. Which sometimes is a good thing. I watched several interviews and the one i care about most and the magazine i got close ties with said it felt and look very great.

Pcgamer awarded it the best strategy of E3 too! Did you see the awards it got on the E3 panel. It looks like its going to be a great game for now. We will never know until we get to play it though

thanks Rezz you made me feel better about it. I just dont want the game to feel as arcady as that battle felt you know. Maybe they wont have the capture points in all the battles. they didnt have it in the tuetoberg forest vid so maybe we"ll be fine.

Hopefully they tone down the Chariot and the catapults too, also making the capture points just effect moral like in shoguns avatar conquest. I would hate it to have a timer. Actually I would loath it.

Definitely has dropped slightly. The E3 presentation wasn't all that great, which bummed me out. We didn't get any new info, hardly saw any new features, and Bickham's vague answers about AI and multiplayer sketched me out. Also the ridiculous flying bodies bit was too much for me both with the chariot and the artillery. The only thing that I truly enjoyed about the E3 footage was seeing the campaign map. It looks absolutely gorgeous and massive as well.

However, this thread here did give me a little bit of hope that the battle AI isn't entirely hopeless:

hahaha I feel the exact same way. Did it seem that the catapults where like super overpowered, even more than the Armstrong gun from fots. I feel if it was that deadly we'de still be using it lmao

Yeah, my excitement for the game kinda took some fall damage..I mean, the graphics, the textures, the scenery is all nice and such, but the actual gameplay is just like Shogun 2. There's really nothing new. I was hoping for a good, new, reveal from e3. But all we got was a generic battle with overpowered catapults and fireballs. Not to mention the UI.

I hope the developers can take a small peek on the forums and really fix the problems.

this review made me feel a little better about it. I just didnt want the battles to turn into an xbox arcade game. it felt that thats the way the battles were going.
On a side not I'm shocked at how dead even the poll is lol

The Chariots, Artillery Effect and seeing the Capture Points in action were all pretty big downers for me :/

I'm going against the general consensus: I liked it. No, I really did. The interviewers were not the best per say, but the campaign map, and the battle wasn't too bad. And we've seen those effects (flying) once in the game, it might have had something to do with them being on a hill. If it's also happening to that extent on a flat surface, then I'll be worried.

Feel free to tar and feather me.

I liked it, September can't come quick enough. Sure, some of the battle stuff was silly, but look at the campaign map

Campaign map looked amazing but some of the new features bummed me out on the battle so my excitement kinda dropped and I'm now looking forward to Battlefield 4/GTA V more until i see more promising battles or an in-depth explanation as to why I have to capture a flipping flagpole to win battles...

Agreed Sun, but I'm hopping Rezzed next week will change that lol. My thing is I just want the game out now :/ or even a demo, anything would be nice to wet my appetite lol

I don't like how the battle feels. It is just, unnatural. I do not like the flag poll, as mentioned above, in the middle of the field, to capture.
Campaign map looks very promising. Enthusiasm fell for me a bit, I think I expected improved immersion into the battle...

P.S. I do not like the UI too. Is this arcade now?

My enthusiasm has dropped more than slightly, but not significantly. Whether it was the arcade-like Rome vs Egypt battle or just simply that the Siege of Carthage trailer got my hopes up way too high I do not know for sure (probably a combination of both). But, like always, I will wait and reserve my final opinion when I know about the game. This will probably be about a month or two after release. But I doubt I will be pre-ordering this game.
When Hiero returned to besiege their base (Messana) in 265 BC the Mamertines called for help from a nearby fleet from Carthage, which occupied the harbor of Messana. Seeing this, the Syracuse forces retired, not wishing to confront Carthaginian forces. Uncomfortable under the Cathaginian "protection," the Mamertines now appealed to Rome to be allowed into the protection of the Roman people. At first, the Romans did not wish to come to the aid of soldiers who had unjustly stolen a city from its rightful possessors. However, unwilling to see Carthaginian power spread further over Sicily and get too close to Italy, Rome responded by entering into an alliance with the Mamertines. In response, Syracuse allied itself with Carthage, imploring their protection. With Rome and Carthage brought into conflict, the Syracuse/Mamertine conflict escalated into the First Punic War.

I hear ya I'm bummed out for the ballista and chariot thing. I said my peace already. This is my biggest gripe if it wasn't for that I would be okay with everything else I saw because I will reserve anything else until I play for myself.

I agree. We shall see if they will change it because it was just a demo, I hope they do change it.
