Default Oyungezer Magazine does Hands on - Total War : Rome II [VIDEO]

    Link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8ZTj_9aneU

This video is totally turkish but the reporter is smart and puts the microphone in the headset as video footage of the battle is forbidden. If you want to hear some of the new sound effects and music there you go. If you listen carefully you can hear the sounds.

There seems to be some gameplay footage right after 09:40 on the video. Just so you guys know!

Also he confirmed that there was a diplomatic relation buff if you help a faction in a bad situation. Same goes as a negative relation bonus if you move through a faction territory with your armies.

So Factions can march threw your territory without a declaration of war? I hope it doesn't go back to the whole they have and army right outside my city and if I attack them then I'm the bad guy BS from older games.

Where is this said? Would be ridiculous and a huge backstep. Military Access for entering others territories is a must-have (except u want to have war)!!

In the interview. Also in the E3 video you can see the Roman army landing in Egypt and then declaring war on Egypt after it landed. To be completely restricted by military access was dumb.

Also it doesn't directly mean war when you march through some other factions territory. What if you just pass by? Either way marching on enemy soil will decrease relations and make military awareness of the origin country increase.

They might even declare war on you if they feel too threatened. Not much official info was given on this but i think military access is still in the game but not the way we are used to.

Well, therefore "Military Access" is made for: If I want to cross foreign lands, I have to ask for military access or else there is a high risk of declaration of war. What is dumb about that? I believe an army marching through other nations lands was nearly always a casus belli - if the crossing was not permitted. Okay, in game you could change it in a way, that the CPU not always declare war on instant (if he sees no choice of winning or so), but generally allowing factions to cross foreign lands: that's dumb.

I see it coming that 3-4 armys from other factions are staying permanently on my land. And then? Declare war on all three of them so that I'm the bad boy/war monger? Or shall I wait and risk that the enemy can attack capture a city in my unguarded backlands anytime? CPU could use this for a huge advantage, especially since you have normally no more armys in your cities and limited armys.

There would be no control, when every army can march through your lands and declare war at will anytime. And it's also not realistic.

Well if you want to cross foreign lands without being diplomatically and then militarily punished yes. Military access is for that. But the game should not restrict your army from moving wherever you want. Movement should be unrestricted. Unrestricted but with consequences and major consequences at that. I think getting rid of weird limitations is good. Like we saw in the gameplay footage. Ceaser lands in Egypt and then moves to declare war. If he hadn't move to attack Rome would get a massive relation decrease and on the next turn probably a war declaration from Egypt.

If you see 3-4 armies from other factions coming right at you its time to defend yourself. Also if this is really the way they are going for then the AI won't come at you unless they have bad relations at you or unless they're attitude is agressive which you can see on the transparent diplomacy screen. Each faction will have characteristics and they will act according to that most of the time.

Also They will be marked the war monger as you will be threatened by their armies in your territory so you will have a Casus Belli on them.

They won't be able to capture territories without a war declaration. You can't capture without a wardec. Its the way the AI is coded. Don't think of it like its in Total War games now. It will be coded in a way that makes it realistic.

They've been pretty clear that you can march through without a declaration, but that you will incur a significant diplomatic penalty for doing so without having negotiated access.

Yeah well, against the human player this will be ok, but I don't think that CPUs will hold back marching through my land, because they are afraid I could hate them,... so in worst case scenario this could mean that there are different factions crossing my lands constantly and I have always the risk that they declare war suddenly.

For me, I just see a big black square where the video should be. Am I doing something wrong which is why I cannot see the video? Could you give us a link please? It would be extremely helpful, dude

EDIT: Just right click the black box where the video should be, hit properties and get the link from there.

Rome 2 looks epic! You should see the close up of the soldiers as they were marching. Good job, CA!!!

A lot of assumptions by you. If the CPU/AI really behave like that, it's okay. But this was never the case in previous TW games, also diplomacy was unpredictable and rather bad until now. So I'm amazed of your optimism.

We can only assume. Assuming it will exactly like the old AI is also an assumption. I played all total war games and even though everybody says the AI has never advanced. It has. I am pretty sure it will get better on this release too. The facts remain that in the E3 video you could enter territory without declaring war. A

lso the diplomatic faction characteristics are in the game. This will add a lot to the Diplomacy AI and behaviour. With the addition of AI relations transparency similar to Shogun 2 and maybe even better we can always guess what hurt the relations or what made it better. I am an optimist with Total Wars as they have an amazing track record and keep getting great scores from all the reviewers. There is always a reason when people score you great. It means you generally are regarded as great. So i hope we can see a 90 metacritic score on Total War : Rome 2.

There is also a huge chance of disappointment though. What can we do? Just wait and see.

That's some cool information, thanks for the upload I am really glad there is a penalty to moving into other territories instead of instant war declaration. After all it's not like it is without consequence.

I didn't like the feature of foreign army in your land before, because the AI attacked you the instant they felt they could. However, historically (being reading Polybe right now, it is featured prominently), it was done. If the country marching through your land is too powerfull, all you could do was pray they don't decide to loot the area or capture your cities on their way.
