About Close Combat - Last Stand Arnhem

"Out of ammunition. God Save the King." – This was the message sent by the British forces in the final hours of the struggle for Arnhem Bridge. It was intended for the Allied forces, but it was only heard by the Germans.
Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases.

As the Allies, you will carry out the world’s largest airborne operation, Operation Market Garden, to cross the Rhine and bring a swift end to the war or, as the Germans, use a hastily organized set of defense forces to prevent the Allies from reaching their ultimate goal, Arnhem Bridge. Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Hey Lord Zimoa! Any news on when this next generation close combat game will be ready for previewing? I remember when "company of heroes" was in development, and how i was wishing that to be a true successor to the CC franchise, but didn't really hit the spot? Perhaps it was because of the truthfulness to some extent on how expendable your troops could be, and im anxious to how the pace of combat would work in the newer engine? Since the older CC franchise left a bit more to the imagination when troops were avoiding MG42 fire in a shallow 1m ditch, in which company of heroes your squad would end up dead eventually, not to mention the compared survivability in buildings.

Company of Heroes is good in alot of ways, had it got some close combat treatment, could have been a really neat game imo for realism, and not so much working of hitpoints instead. Plus the infinite ammo, go towards that arcade feel.

Anyway just curious, since i remember a while back, around the release of Panthers in the Fog, there was talk of updating the engine i think? Its an underated series imo, especially when there are many indie developers releasing indie games on steam, hopefully the franchise may be able to break back into the limelight.

    Thanks very much!
