    Default Amazon Error Help Please

Hi all, not sure this is the right thread to post on but I have a quick question regarding mods for Amazon Digital downloads. I have the Amazon digital download of Medieval 2 Total War Gold and I am trying to install the Westeros mods and third age. When I attempt to run the mod I receive the following message, No disc inserted.
Please insert the original "Kingdoms" CD/DVD.
Please have a look at http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=nodisc for further, more detailed information.

Since I don't have a hard copy how can I run the mods or am I just out of luck?

Hi there and welcome to TWC Forums!

    1. Can you play the normal Kingdoms campaigns?

    2. What Windows do you have installed on your PC?

    3. Did you install all four TATW Installers ( TATW 3.0 part 1 and part 2, TATW Patch 3.1, TATW Patch 3.2 ) ?

    4. Where is your M2TW installed? Give us the correct folder destination.

    5. Did you try to update your Kingdoms to 1.5 version? There is a patch for Amazon digital version here: LINK.

If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.

Hey Elven thanks for replying and sorry for not adding more details to this in terms of from the tech side.
    1) I can play the normal kingdoms campaigns with no problem. There is also no problem running vanilla. There are no discs, the files were all downloaded from Amazon so kind of strange it would be requesting discs now. (or at least it seems strange to me).

I believe I selected the right patch but I will run this one to just make sure. Can't be too careful.
    2) I am running on Windows 7.

    3) I ran all 4 TATW installers.

    4) The files for M2TW are in two places. The physical data that is downloaded from Amazon goes to my desktop in a folder called M2TW Gold edition (download). Once installed, the directory is Computer: C: Program Files: Sega: Medieval II Total War.

    5) The mods install to this directory specifically into the mod folder. I attempted to follow the instructions for Steam to rename the TATW file to one of the 4 campaigns. I went to the launcher thinking "well if the desktop shortcut for the mod doesn't work maybe there is an outside chance going through the gold launcher will work. When I tried this I received the please insert the original Kingdoms CD/DVD message.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think in your case you don`t have to use steam installation instructions, cause you don`t have to have some third party software for running your games downloaded from Amazon ( like, steam client for example) otherwise, your M2TW would be installed in ..steam/steamapps/blabla/bla blabla folder..

Go to this Installation Thread with pictures ( LINK ), and apply these steps explained there:

    1. Edit the Security for your main M2TW folder, unhide hidden folders, check Virtual Store and see is there M2TW folder and delete it if present. If there is no M2TW folder, procced with the next steps bellow.

    2. Uninstall TATW by using Start-Control Panel-Uninstall Programs, and remove current failed TATW installation from your main ..M2TW/mods folder ( delete the renamed Kingdoms folder where you just had TATW installed - since you used the method with renaming one of the Kingdoms campaigns ).

    3. Check the Installation of Third Age TW for non steam users steps, be sure to change the destination path for TATW Installers when asked where to install files( in your case: Computer: C: Program Files: Sega: Medieval II Total War ).

    4. For battle crashes, Disable daylight saving settings: go to Control Panel, Clock, Date and Time, Change the time zone, Change time zone, uncheck `Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Savings time`. Apply and OK.

    5. If your TATW works now, I would suggest to make a backup copy of Third_Age_3 folder somewhere else on your hard drive ( if you have free space ) so that you can just copy paste it back if you screw up things with modding, or, if you just want to play some submod for TATW. And you can have more than one TATW submod installed at the same time, more info here: LINK.

Good luck with the installation !

    Hello:

I have the same issue. When my hard copy CDs were damaged, I could not run the game. I bought a digital download from Amazon, which runs fine, but I still cannot run any mods. I have pretty much the same technical information, except I have Windows 8. I have followed the instructions on the sub-mod page and still no dice. I was not trying to run TATW, but Eras Total Conquest and Bare Geomod.

Post about it in the Eras Total Conquest and Bare Geomod forums, this section is for TATW Help.

It's possible to get it to work with Amazon. There is a trick to it, but I don't remember it. Do some searching here and hopefully you will find it.
