    Default Historical Starting Points

Do to the final reveal (to the public at least) of the campaign map made me think. If the Battle of the Nile is a historical battle to be included, could there be any way that the campaign could start at different time slots throughout the period? I think that could add much replay value with the campaign starting in different eras ect. I seriously doubt that this will be in the initial game, but hey DLC and expansions.

I'm sure they'll have different time periods as DLC like in Shogun. I hope they bring back the Alexander DLC

I think CA is really gonna milk this for the DLC possibilities. If Shogun got a few we can only expect R2TW is going to get more given the diversity and choices that this map gives them. I'm pretty excited for all the possible eras and campaigns: Alexander, Punic Wars, Caesar's Rise & Gallic Wars, Roman Civil Wars, Barbarian Invasions, etc etc.

See, that is an issue here. While CA believes that they will increase this by making the game more balanced it actually makes the game play very much the same with any faction you will play with. The irony of all this is that while they are working so hard to create fantastical diversity in battles they are killing the campaign map diversity.
On to your topic, Al Bickam said that Rome 2 has a prologue tutorial formed of 4 parts. That means that we will get a from the Kingdom to Empire campaign just like Road to Independence ETW one. Maybe this campaign part showed at E3 was a part of that. CA said more than 1 time that the Grand Campaign will be basically the same in terms of general gameplay - basically, no sliders!
