So I just got this mod to get into hotseating because this community is friendly to new hotseaters. And im wondering if this game is apart of the game of thrones series?

I'm also new and if I understood correctly, this mod, Westeros: Total War was made even before HBO series started, somewhere in 2009 I think, then later came submods, which are very important for hotseating as it seems nobody is hotseating games without submods.

Sky Walker is correct. The mod was started before the TV series was, and is based on the books (and not at all on the TV series) by George RR Martin.

And as to the extensive use of submods, this is due to the fact that the alpha version, while providing good framework for additional work, is very unfinished.
