Is this possibly what you wanted to link us to?

I'll quote myself, as I covered this in my E3 After action report.

I actually love the unit cards now, as you play you may have the same thing happen to you.
Pretty much sums it up, its quite different when your playing and your in the action itself, rather than just sitting somewhere picking through a video. Two very different experiences.

Nonsense!
We must whine till the end of time, to the point where we're aware not our of own ridiculousness!
I think someone made a thread about this already here on the forum.

I am slightly lost here, people keep saying historical battle but from the video we saw on the campaign map the Roman army attacks the Egyptian army and there are two fleets nearby, it seems to me that this is the battle we saw so its not an historical battle its a normal campaign battle?
Then people say that some of what the AI did was scripted but the game was already 200 turns in what do they mean by scripted in a normal campaign battle?
The battle you saw was an historical battle. In the Gamespot interview you can hear him saying that this is the army of Ptolemy XIII. And besides, when you see the two armies clash on the campaign map it says that the battle map would be Grassy Flatlands, but the battle is clearly not a grassy flatlands. The battle shown is also consistent with what the real Battle of the Nile in 47 BC looked like (not the result however obviously), with the Ptolemy army on the hill and a naval battle going on at the same time. So this is an historical battle. I certian of it.

it was just scripted/setup so that you could play a bit of the campaign and look at the map, but when you attacked you got the historical battle to play I believe
OK but there just happens to be two navies close enough to the campaign battle to be drawn in as reinforcements and in another review somebody was playing the Romans in the same battle.
If it is the campaign battle its the grasslands that has me wondering about what is Warscape up to when making the tactical map.
the biggest proof to show that it was indeed a historical battle edited to look like it was from the campaign map is this :
the player in the demo at E3 is playing as the romans on the campaign map but once the battle begins we see that he is now playing as the egyptians
this is because CA have devilishly edited the gameplay video to make it look as if it was from the campaign map, the fiends
it may be entirely possible for us to be able to choose what side we want to play as and also, did you not see the cutscene at the beginning of the battle![]()

If you work to earn a living, why then do you work yourself to death?
Someone else played the battle as the Romans and wrote a report and was absolutely useless getting nearly all his ships sunk, I doubt very much if CA would want to show that.
And why would CA show us a Roman army attacking on the campaign map and by pure coincidence there happens to be two fleets in the right location to join that battle as reinforcements and then show a completely different battle that just happens to involve two armies, two navies and the Nile.
Beats the hell out of me.
The just want to make it that way for the show.
The legion on the campaign map consist of Hastati, Leves and Velites. The legion in the battle consist of post Marian Legionaries. The want to show us the campaign map and also they want to show us the battles. The battle however not from the campaign map but it looks that why from prepositioning of the armies on the campaign map.

I believe Jack said it was deliberately set up to look that way - the positions of Rome and Parthia on the campaign map, the placements of the fleet and armies etc. Just a way to show off both the campaign map and a battle at the same time, with a smooth transition from one to the other.
