    Default RTR PE stability?

    Hello all
Have been off RTR for a long period of time.
Nice to see that it is stil developped
Just wondered: is it perfectly stable?
    Even with very long campaigns?
    Thx for replies.
    Regards,

AFAIK it's EXTREMELY STABLE except for a 66 BC crash or something which is being addressed in the much anticipated 1.7 release. But using 4tpy I've never played 856 turns without starting a new campaign.

I play nothing else and any crash I get (rare) is always related to the fact that my PC is CRAP!

Moved to the RTR Platinum sub-forum. Please ask all your RTRPE related questions here from now on.

Now, about RTRPE. It is stable. Marcus is currently working at that 66 BC CTD and we hope not to see it in RTRPE v1.7 which should be released pretty soon. The 66 BC CTD was also present in RTR 6 Gold and the RTR Team never got to fix it as they moved work on RTR 7.
What you should know is that RTRPE is not developed by the RTR team that made RTR 6 Gold. It is not an official version in that sense. RTRPE is a direct port of RTR 6 Gold to the engine of RTW v1.5. It can also be played with BI.exe. The guide on how to do that is in my sig. RTRPE is more of a community project. The RTR Team are currently working on RTR 7 which will be for BI. No release date has been announced for it. Hope I answered all your potential questions.

I have personally had two campaigns crash permanantly at the end turn button. Nothing I could do would stop these crashes, and it was the only time ever in 2 years of playing RTW with any mods that I would get a perma crash. Usually if I got a crash before I could load up the game again and resume playing. These crashes are permanant (the crash would just repeat itself everytime I hit end turn, even if I went back a few turns with the extra save games I was keeping after the first perma crash). It was really depressing considering I was enjoying my campaign so much and had gotten fairly far (at least for my play style). Also note that the crashes were at random years and not with every faction I tried.

I must say though that RTR PE otherwise is a superb mod. Running off of BI the AI is great, and you will see naval invasions for a change. Not to mention the new animations breath fresh air into the game. But the risk of losing a treasured campaign has stopped me from playing RTW alltogether sadly. I can't go back to Gold which was stable for me because I am used to the new AI and animations, and I can't play PE because of these killer crashes. I have noticed only a few people complaining about these types of crashes maybe you can be a lucky one and not have to deal with them.

Well, if you are using the BI.exe... I've heard that RTR wont crash if ever you'll reach 66 B.C.

I had quite a horrific crash the other day where my laptop blue-screened. Apparently a thread got stuck in the driver... It only seems to happen when i use the "-nm" command switch though.

Btw, I have a super-crap ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP, but it seems to handle Rome okay.
