Default Wrong terrain type !!?? (from the E3 demo)

hey guys i just spotted something i wasnt quite sure about so i thought id ask the wise scholars amongst us (or CA themselves for that matter )for enlightenment

this is the pre battle menu, as you can see it tells you the type of terrain that you will be fighting on. In this case you can tell from the area of battle and the description that it is on grassland

however when we enter the battle, we see that that there really isnt much grass to be found, all we see is some desert region with some hills/mountains

in this picture below, we can see some greenery but you'd expect it to be quite a bit more (since the battle is taking place in a predominantly green area)

also on the campaign map the player was attacking as the romans, how did he end up defending as the egyptians

does this mean that all battles in desert areas will be that horrible brownish red dusty colour

and can CA please tell us if this battle was scripted and provide assurances that normal battles will take place on terrain which more closely resembles that of the campaign map.

    thank you

First pic is just from campaign, you think a historical battle is engaged through the campaign map? You know, easy to edit stuff to make it look like it was a battle engaged through campaign, but the battle we saw was the historical battle of the nile

Yeah, why couldn't they just show us a normal, spontaneous, unscripted battle?

You don't need CA to answer this: the battle was scripted and it is an historical battle, it had pretty much nothing to do with what you see on the campaign map.

That is because when they play the battle they skip to a historical battle instead of the battle that would be fought if they fought this in the campaign game. The battle is supposed to be The Battle of The Nile which was fought in 47 bc. Understand what I'm getting at?

The battle is supposed to be historical, the battle of the Nile.
So i think the campaign map thing is just there to show how it looks (notice it is more or less the historical situation around 47bc) and once the battle start, it's the historical battle. So the map isn't linked (maybe) to the campaign map.

Because, on the campaign map the guy is playing the roman, in the battle mode he has the egyptian... That's why i think the battle and the campaign map aren't truly linked, it was a way for them to demonstrate both aspect of the game in linked manner/theme.

then I wonder why Romans had some hastati on the campaign map, if it is in 47bc, shouldn't they have marian legionaries instead?

well we have heard that you can keep some of the older units such as hastati even after the reforms but this whole business is making me wonder if the game is finished at all.

its 3 months till release and every video or screenshot is taken from battles which are scripted !

CA need to stop acting like guilty children and show us the real game,

i refuse to believe that CA hasn't thought of recording one spontaneous quick battle and uploading it (its soo easy to do and would appease the community)

the question is that why have they not done something like this yet, or is there something terribly wrong with normal battles that they continuously have to resort to scripted battles to try and show the game in a good light ?

CA will show what they want to, when they want to. Maybe the quick battle feature isn't completly bug free yet? They're at the stage in development where a lot of time is spent looking for and fixing bugs. Now it wouldn't be wise to show of a feature that's full of bugs. Now I'm just guessing here.

In fact the game isn't finished at all. You're right. It's approaching beta. Not every feature of the game is finished yet. And perhaps they just want to show some of the historical battles that's in the game.

very well, the Arab nation will be patient at this time until such a day comes that the prophecy of Gugg comes to fruition and on that that we will see a completed game and an unscripted battle, shining in all its glory

The roman army in the campaign map consisted of polybian units (hastati, velites and leves). It was obviously not the same armies/battlefield.
