Default A Champion is in my army!

I really liked the foreign veterans in Fots, but there were a couple of things that made these agents annoying to use. The one thing I would like to see changed for sure is a smoother transition from ships to land, if I had one of these agents embedded in an army and then entered a fleet when I would disembark the army, the agent would always stay in the ship. The problem is you have to wait the following turn to disembark the agent and then you have to wait another freaking turn so the agent can move so you just wasted 2 turns to get this agent back in the army.

Also Champions in Rome 2 should show up on the battlefield if they are embedded in the army, they could just be attached to an elite infantry unit as an extra officer. So if the unit is killed in battle so is the champion, but with that said he should buff the units fighting capabilities a bit. I absolutely love the look of the hero models on the campaign map and it would be pretty cool to see that champion fighting in the ranks of a phalanx or in the first cohort of a legion. So please CA fix the agent transition when disembarking and make these guys show up on the battlefield!

Yes, that was terrible, made many an invasion more difficult than it could have been, my solution was to put the agent on a single ship fleet and the army on the fleet, but since in Rome II the fleet number will be limited I doubt we'll be able to do that.

Since armies can build their own transport ships I'm guessing once the army hits ground so does the agent, no more waiting a few turns to get out all of your agents and such

That was the real issue of the Spanish war, and of the last war, and perhaps of other wars yet to come.”

Speaking of limit I really hope the limit of agents is reigned in, Shogun 2, RoTS, and Fots had way too many agents running around. With each faction being able to have up to 15 agents (5 of each) it gets retard mid-late game. I think it would be better if factions had 1-5 agents in total (not of each) with only the very large factions maxing out at 5. More then that it just gets way too out of hand and detracts from the game.

QFT! I just recently finished a Satsuma campaign in FOTS and I felt in late game that I was merely fighting an agent war where I just assassinated a general and bought off their troops. Rinse, repeat. I like having agents in the game as they offer more choices on how to procede, but they should at least increase the cost of certain actions to make you think twice before using them.

Yeah, FOTS was the assassination party, it was absurd how easy it was to kill generals.

The workaround for me in shogun 2 was to disembark all the agents from the fleet first, (one by one) and then to disembark the army. next turn I merged the agents and army again.

I'll have to try that next time i get around to playing FOTS, on the other hand the new way armies move into transport ships might solve this issue altogether. However I still want to see my champion on the battlefield killing stuff, this also makes the agent I guess more tangible making him vulnerable on the battlefield. That's how heroes worked in Warhammer, they would just be attached to the unit you want him to be with opposed to having an entire unit.

They should absolutely stay with the army when they disembark, it's so stupid that you have to wait 1 extra turn if you want to bring your agents with you.

I also sincerely hope agents aren't as powerful in Rome II as they were in FotS. The ridiculous bonuses from foreign vets turned every battle into a massacre, and i didn't like the fact that units could rank up just by having a vet with them.
