“Great empires are not maintained by timidity.” ― Tacitus
Awesome, that assasination video was awesome.
yeah great videos![]()
Working on:
Kingdoms: Vindicated
Bellum Crucis: an Italian Mod for MTW2
Crusader TW Leader
Under the Patronage of Asterix
now that's nice! When the existing Pope dies (for whatever reason) a new Pope is elected by the college of cardinals. If you have a cardinal of sufficiently high rank, he'll be a candidate in the election. You can then negotiate with the other factions to get them to vote for your cardinal by buying votes via diplomacy. Alternatively you can agree to sell your vote for their candidate. Players have to exercise some caution when toying with the politics of a papal election. The newly elected Pope will remember those factions who voted for and against him and this will influence his relationship with those factions once elected.
Anyone noticed the music was quite eastern, and not really European, despite the player being English? It'd be great if the music would vary depending on the theatres of war!![]()
"Tempus edax rerum." Ovid, Metamorphoses
Under the patronage of Virgil.
Oh yes that would be great! It would really give an interesting and different feel to fighting in the East/West depending on your respective factions. Would be a neat little touch i think. I'll be very interested to see if we get some funky, exotic music in the Americas.Originally Posted by The White Knight
Sweet indeed. Thanks for the link G. Duke.
One note. I noticed that the music isnt blaring out as it did in Rome, you know, constant tracks being played one after another. Either the player has ALT+M'd it, or its just like in Meddy 1 where you have one great pumping track that sets you up for the battle and then no more music. I hope that's the case anyway.

Very, VERY nice indeed. If I'm not winning I'll just give the Pope a quickie and maybe he'll give me some bonuses.Originally Posted by Bwaho

"ehn sewr traih-sluyrds-lairareh"
Wow.
From that one video of the battle in the desert...I cant really explain it, it just looks and sounds like the battlefield really comes alive in MTW2. I cant wait.
Mybe it's the unit scale chosen, and the utter stupid ammount of artillery in the british army, but I found the scale of the battle to be less than impressive, almost as "puny" as a tabletop Warhammer or DBM game. The papal assassination video was very promising however...
But I like how in the first battle that when the two lines clashed, one did not rout after 2 seconds of melee. Also, those assasination videos rule!![]()
Stealing TWC's smilies since 2005
Probably because the english wasted half their units on artillery. And the egyptians had like 3 ranged units in the background.Originally Posted by Sidus Preclarum
They probably just want to show off as much artillery as possible, they have quite the selection.
I dunno, I know I wouldn't have nearly as much as that, maybe 2 sets of cannons.
the unit scale looked like it was set to large sizes, the size in RTW where you would have 80 infantry or 40 cavalry. Plus you were right about the Artillary, there were I think 8 artillary units on the screen, which only leaves room for 12 other units.Originally Posted by Sidus Preclarum
I got that feeling too, I think it is the cavalry animation, it seems so fluid and natural now, the people actually seem alive.Originally Posted by Handsome Huss

Animations seem to be much much better and more fluid, compare units starting to run in RTW to that video and you'll see it.
