over reaction to E3 and other content

Hello, I think pay maybe over reacting A **** TON, to the rome two total war footage, alot of people want a level of realism to high for a total war series, I mean it's not like mods that take 3 hours to make cant clear up most of the complaints LAY OFF.

Yes people are over reacting to very limited and rushed footage, and plenty of that over reaction is based on guesswork and hearsay. Example, as far as I am aware Al Bickham (?) never said there will be capture points in every battle, he just said there can be capture points in battles, yet people on TWC are already claiming the end of TW as we know it, etc etc.

obviously you have never modded, especially on the newer total war games...

I've never modded for TW but in SC2 it can take hours to make a new unit.

it will take another 1-2 years before all the polished mods come out. Why not making a masterpiece on release date? When you hand in your assignment on due date, can you come back 1-2 weeks later and say " hey sorry prof, here is the new version! sorry for making you read that mess that was my first version " -- No you have to have it right the first time and that's why people are complaining! We have expectations and we expect a good product on release date. If it's a good product, people will come back to this forum and praise the game!! so far it's not, and most people are complaining... it's normal!

Agreed. There seems to be a lot of nostalgia surrounding RTW and TWR2. People who think vanilla RTW was better need to think again. RTW was not even historically authentic let alone accuarate. CA gives us a bigger map, more regions, and historically authentic units and people still complain. People seem to think that CA has all these tools and resources at their disposal when in fact they don't. I think CA even said this at some point.

actually I have modded several of my UNIT CARDS (god damnit), which most of the complaints I see, are centered around the unit cards, and the nile river /FACEPALM. Dan113112, I wasnt trying to be rude, it's just that it seems these people are so spoiled into getting what they want, that if minor things are off EVERYONE LOOSES THEIR MINDS.

What people forget is that EB/RS2/RTRVII =/= RTW vanilla. RTW was a joke in a lot of ways, albeit still a fun game. Those that came here expecting the CA to take EB or RTRVII and copy it ad verbatim into Warscape were just being naive.

I honestly like the CA's developmental choices thus far.

I'm just saying that from E3 previews it has many flaws. CA simply gave me and many others too high expectations from all the early pre-alpha articles and videos. I would be totally satisfied with the game right now if I didn't know anything of what they mentioned at first. From a neutral point of view, the game looks amazing. But with what I know, it need some major improvements before release.

First of all, flaws in this case are completely subjective. Maybe me and many others like what they've done? All I've heard so far is a vocal minority instantly complaining at every new bit of information.

Secondly, people create their own expectations, not CA. People complained about the fact CA has been very silent since the very beginning of Rome II's development. Unfortunately, their silence didn't prevent people like you to inflate their already ridiculous expectations.

With that said, I hated the unit cards when we first saw them with Teutoburg, and I still hate them. Maybe they'll look better at high res on my monitor but ugh.
