Icon9 I bet this has been talked about before, but... unspecified error!

I have read a few forums on this, to no avail.

TATW looks awesome, but it simply wont load. I got my game on steam, both M2TW and kingdoms. I installed part one, two, and the patches. I even have the icon on my desktop and it exists as a data file in the M2TW folder (does it need to be in "data" or what?)

I start the game, and you know how you get the opening screen with the game name and whatnot? I get that for a second, it flashes away, and says unspecified error. I wasted two hours of my time for this?! It saddens me.

Any help is appreciated, because it looks really cool if it actually works.

Hi there, and welcome to the TWC forums!

Yes not being able to get things rolling at the start sure can be fustrating, but don't worry, I'm sure we'll be able to sort things out! For starters I recommend taking a look at Elvenkind's "Installation Guide With Pictures," as it is a very helpful step-by-step guide for both Steam and non-Steam users. Here is a (LINK) to his guide. (You'll probably need to uninstall your current game and try again).

If that doesn't seem to do the trick please let us know and we'll be happy to troubleshoot any problems that might continue to crop up!

    All the best,

Question: the whole game or just the mod? Also, is there a way where I can get the game all-in-one and not just a bunch of separate ones?

Thanks! And I will check it out

    1) I believe for Steam you can still just delete the TATW mod folder and try installing it again. I don't personally have much experience trouble-shooting the Steam version (Elvenkind is one of the best at that), but if it is anything like the non-steam version you should be able to just delete the "Third_Age_3" folder that is within your main M2TW folder.

Here is an example tree of where the Third_Age_3 folder is: steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3

**If this doesn't work then I'd say wait until Elvenkind gets a chance to look this over, he will be able to tell you with 100% certainty what to do next**

    2) I'm afraid there isn't a single download available at the moment, so it has to be bit-by-bit.

Edit: Edited the example folder tree for a typical Steam install

Ah, ok. I will both wait for Elven and then do this on the weekend.

Check out my Installation Thread ( LINK ) , if you have Windows Vista, 7 or 8 installed, be sure to:

    1. edit the security for your main M2TW folder as described there BEFORE installing TATW.

    2. Verifiy game cache as described there BEFORE installing TATW.

    3. Use one of the methods mentioned there for steam installation, or, follow the one shown in the pictures.

    Good luck!
American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..
Sons of *******, leave that poor, war torn country in peace.
If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.
