Default Mods running in their own folders.....

Hi. I've played TFT for a while and I've enjoyed it very much. But I've got a question. The First Triumvirate v1.9 uses the -mod: switch functionality provided by RTW, but what other mods uses this functionality. It is a great idea and I'd liked to see it implemented in every mod but sadly it is not.

    Ha! So would I.

The Extended Greek Mod uses the mod switch:

I can't think of any others. There are some mods that can be installed and run from their own folder with no problem (like Mundus Magnus v3), but if there are any skins/etc. they usually don't work.

ChivalryTW uses as well the -mod functionality. You would install Chiv into your vanilla RTW 1.5 with its own mod folder and a Chiv-start-exe will be thrown onto your desktop during the installation. You don't need any additional mod switch functions for Chivalry at least, and you can "host" parallel further other mods with this vanilla RTW (or BI 1.6) installation, as long they don't affect the vanilla data, ie. such as TFT, or here in this case, if you have TFT, just add Chivalry and possible other.
But, me too, don't know any other mods that use this function as yet.

Sorry, DaVinci! Haven't tried Chiv so I was not aware.

    Cheers!

Well, Stuie. I seem to remember that you adapted RTR PE to be used with my_mod. But that was a long time ago, in a far away website...

I think more mods are converting to the -mod folder, we converted some months ago now.

It is very useful for both the modder, testers and players - an all-round advantage - and leaves vanilla playable of course.

    Why would anyone play vanilla?

I just like the fact that multiple mods can exist side-by-side without any messy folder swapping and such.
