How can we have 4 seasons if we only have 1 turn.I mean on the map will the weather be changing in front of our eyes.Or are seasons that Germany will always be snowing and Egypt will always have sun and the UK will just have rain.
in answer to the op "looking awesome" this is perhaps hard to say considering how much we have seen. what we have seen is really a campaign map and a battle demo from E3.
is this enough to say "it's looking awesome". maybe...
i def agree it's looking good but would love to see more. remember beauty is only skin deep!![]()
The only thing I'm not so much a fan of is the battle speed, but they said they might tone that down a bit anyway, plus it'll almost certainly be easy to change with modding.
Wow, alot of people have strayed on this topic already. This game is shaping up to be very awesome indeed! Thus far I love the cities and the look of the units.....they look authentic indeed.Yes its going to have issues however at the end of the day its a game and if its not fun to play then it makes no sense in playing it. CA team thanks,
Roman Gunner

New great information is learned every day. I like the fact that capture points are not going to be used in everyday battle but in certain situations like sieges and forced marches, the baggage trains. I just preordered it, so I am very happy!
Got nothing...
Yes, I think the Q&A cleared up a lot of things! I preordered Rome 2 a month ago, still not regret it! I probably never will either. Because so far, judging from the vids, there's nothing I see what I really dont like/hate. Sure the capture points worried me a little bit but its explained very well by CA in their Q&A.
Also, I think C&A really does a good job by keeping their fanbase up2date! They pick the right questions and answer them in the best way they can.
Unit cards: I really like them! It's something different then what i've seen before (played Rome1, Med2, Empire so far)
Campaign map: I think CA did their best to balance out things. Yes, Greece is a bit small with only a few regions....and some other cities (Rhodos, Jerusalem) dont get the potential they should deserve. But here i am holding back my judgement because I havent played the game yet. But to me, it looks quite balanced and fun so far. I like how cities work and how they expand. Will definately be epic to conquer those large cities. Carthage was just a small peek, I cant wait to see Rome.
So with Rezzed happening this weekend let us hope for some more awesome news !
CIVITATVS CVM AVGVSTVS XVI, MMVIIN PATROCINIVM SVB Dromikaites SVB MareNostrum SVB Quintus Maximus
Want to know more about Rome II Total Realism ? Follow us on Twitter & Facebook
yes it does ,it will the most played and the most selled game from TW series .
Looking at the rezzed places and some screens I found, Rome II looks and seems better. Forced march in battle now I know how to kill these elephants before the game even comes out.
Got nothing...
Pericles_Plato thanks for putting together a good post. The Info is very relevant and I will be very happy when the game comes out. Even though I'm going away for a month for work and will have to wait til October to engage.
Promethus, apart from gifting fire to man, I see your points, but believe that the colour of Ceaser is pretty irrelevant. It's the league of Nations at my work and so what.
same here i cant wait for the game and i'am convedient taht it will be great. TWcenter communtiy tends to be a bit dramatic..

I love (almost) everything about Rome 2 besides the unit cards look pretty confusing.
I like most of what we've seen so far. Having cities grow as they gain more building slots instead of just changing the model after a wall/castle upgrade feels alot more organic to me and it'll make it pleasurable to look at your huge empires with huge cities in them. In terms of the battles, the troops don't look like toy soldiers, the banners make the game feel much more rustic than Shogun 2, and while the artillery and chariots seemed powerful, remember that in the Battle of the Nile, they were being used to their maximum effectiveness, on a hill. We might see something different on flatland. They finally fulfilled a promise they made years ago with combined land and sea battles, although me with my terrible micro might fail at combined battles.
Some things I would like to still see though is a revision to the attack order sound, its still the same old one from Empire that sucks and is not satisfying at all. I hope there will be no Legionary vs Anything is an automatic win. Another thing that we still have yet to confirm is whether or not units still jerk when giving them orders and whether or not archers need to reform before firing. Of course we need to know how it performs, and I'm still worried even though I plan to build a new system to play Rome.
Rome 2 is amazing
I actually like Age of Empires, it's very enjoyable. To call a game out that has been given a lot of good reviews and is very enjoyable to play is just wrong. My answers are mostly yes, the game is being polished, it will be released in three months, yes some more. I do not want to take long answering your questions as, from what I heard, you really dislike *i think i am puting it lightly* the game so far. If you already dislike there is prob 0-1% chance you will like it from reading any of the comments here. You might not like the game and want your money back. Hell, we might all do the same, but I love what I see. To be more specific with your questions. : lets see.
- you like that the field battles now are turned into a run for the flag and king of the hill mode instead than a serious strategical and tactical manouvering on field?
My opinon is what you call a run for the flag is that it is serious stragical and tactical maneuvering on the field. Strategic point in real life are good for moral and what not. Some games have strategic point like King ARthur II and I like that game as well. I will use them in my campaign. You do not need to use the strategic point you can go destroy the army if you want.
- you like that African Elephants are portrayed as indian Elephants?
I do not care really.
- you like that Schythed chariots can trample men and send them into space instead of cutting them to pieces eventually?
Physics going down hill, from video we have seen.
IT IS A VIDEO GAME!!!! Try to react to it as such. It is historical fiction not 100% historic. You do not have to buy it. You do not like it, I get it. I'll enjoy this game and if I do not, you will be the first to know. This is the biggest Total War game yet, the least you can do is be a bit happy. You are not going to buy it I presume? I am and so are the majority.
BTW: Age of Empires was and still is a great game, you can insult it all you want but it is no where like Total War. What does that have to do with the price of eggs? 4
We will see come Sep 4, as people will be too busy playing to comment, or complaining about steam messing up.
Edit: To make myself more clear I do like games like Rome II, Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, and pretty much a lot of other RTS games. As to add more to commenting about the problems, the game is being POLISHED/ What we saw was Alpha. There is bound to be mistakes. That's like complaining about, I do not know, I've never heard much complaining to a game that is not even in the beta. ITS IN ALPHA! or pre alpha. I'm tired and cannot remember which one. Acting like the videos is the finished part. Some of what you mentioned is happening so deal with it. You do not like it fine, it's still happening, all you can do is annoy people.

Got nothing...
There are a similar number of settlements with siege battle mpas as Shogun 2. There is also the greatest variety of siege maps of any Total War game.
Seasons are still in the game. The reasons for one turn per year have been explained many, many times. You like no seasons per year?
Yes Generals will be alive for a shorter period of time but will gain skills more quickly.you like Gens die fast over time?
There is more depth and more features in the campaign than any previous Total War game. You like lack of any deepness in strategy gameplay?
That is an artistic choice to make it clear where players can and cannot land their armies. The tiny islands have nothing on them so have been made impassable.you like that most of the coasts are fake and only made by cliffs and even the nile is made like a canyon River? and cant access any of the smaller islands?
No they're like a region from Shogun 2. Multiple buildings slots, can raise armies and have happiness factors of their own.You like that the other cities regions are actually just an improved version of a resource settlement of previous games regions?
There are sieges. There are forts. There are deployable defences.you like that there is no interest in sieges , roman fortifications , no fortresses , no defence buldings to protect ur empire ?
There are a variety of skin tones used, some Romans are portrayed as more tanned than others. They're not black.you like that legionaries are black?
That is not what the AI will do. that would be a huge step back for it and we continue to work hard on making it better and play better.you like that the AI to win a battle will focus only on getting a specific area spot and wait for some minutes to win the battle ?
Capture points are for the attackers to take, and are one way of winning a battle along with the old ways of you know beating the enemy army. They are implemented to help removed some exploity tactics used by players such as corner camping.you like that the field battles now are turned into a run for the flag and king of the hill mode instead than a serious strategical and tactical manouvering on field?
See above. Tactics are still important, that has not changed.you like that the game is more like age of empires where you stack amount of troops one over the other to capture a point rather then use them logically?
We have always adjusted movement speeds for gameplay and we always will. That has been true of every game we have made.you like to have fake speeds and instacracking of naval warfare?
We colour code units to help with easy identificaiton of which units belong to each faction in a battles. Again we have always done that and always will.you like to see purple units and blue soldiers for factions?
Artillery works just like in previous games where you recruit them as part of your army and they move around with it. Their primary use will still be for sieges.you like to see Ballistas fire like a close range artillery ( like a scorpio ) on enemies rather than beeing a siege equipment for sieges? ( or right since now sieges are less can be used otherways?)
The battle is not a strict reproduction of the Battle of Nile.you like that in the historica battles there is nothing historical ? Even the battle of the Nile , where supposely should be Caesar you see romans in iron clad suits rather than the proper mail and montefortino helmets?
The unit card images are based on the look of the unit in the game and infact make it easier to see which unit you are selecting. You like that you have to use a geroglyph dictionary to understand what unit is what?
The length of battles will be longer than Shogun 2 but still in line with the length we've aimed for in all Total War games.you like to not have even the time to watch at ur units on field that inthe time you zoom are already dead?
The campaign is designed to last around 300 turns, which is longer than Shogun 2, Empire, Napoleon and Medieval II. There is also no time limit. You can take as long as you want to finish it.you like that the game will end fast?
We have gone for a more even distribution of settlements. If we went just for the ones mentioned in ancient writings (which are all Roman and Greek), we'd have a huge amount of settlements which each required sieging in a very small area. That would be terrible for gameplay. We will always go for what plays the best.you like that the game will not portray at all some important cities of the age and instead placed fake places to simulate a balance in areas that were not civilized or developed?

Thanks for replying, Jack! I also hope you read our other comments that we really look forward to the game. And that we are not all in the negative zone around here.
I sometimes feel bad about this forum about all the negative stuff going around....and that those people event havent played the game yet.
