I am very excited about Rome II, I would say I am almost expecting it to be the best experience I have had with the franchise since Rome I.

However, just because I am a fan of the Total War franchise, or optimistic about the upcoming game, does not make me a 'fanboy', that is a derogatory term for people who are blindly fanatic in there fanhood. I can see the possible issues here and there in Rome II and I don't like everything, but I am just so happy to be going back to Rome and to see that this franchise is getting stronger and stronger and despite what some here might say, I think the CA has a proven track record in creating great games.

I'm not a historical accuracy freak, unlike the majority of the main posters/naggers on this forum *still i find it laughable that they nag and complain, but are the first to pre-order the game, but i suppose that's how gaming is nowadays.* So i am pleased *not happy* with what CA has offered us.

They could have easily created a Victoria Total War after Shogun *specially with all the tech they added for FoTS* but they decided to please the fans and give us Rome II.

I do believe there are some things to improve. But what we have seen is just 30 minutes *20 of those minutes are 2 scripted historical battles* I think the level of nagging and complaining is ridiculous considering how little we have seen.

And like i've said before, i know a bit of history, but i am not freak about it. If the game fails to name a few regions, mess a few units or miss a few settlements. I won't really care that much.

I remember when Shogun II was coming out that people started to complain that it should be Rome II and not Shogun II. Now we have Rome II, and there is a lot of whining and complaining about it. It seems impossible to please everybody nowadays.
    Got nothing...

Man, Victoria Total War would be sweeeeeet. However, I'd like to see a Medieval 3/Warhammer Total War game, then an Empire game, or justskip Empire and go straight to Victoria. The only thing is that it would be a great amount of work if they want to go outside their comfort zone of Europe. I wouldn't expect a Paradox situation where everyone is playable, but I would like to see North America, South America, Europe, Eurasia, China, India, and Japan. Australia and Indonesia wouldn't be too paramount to work on, However, I'm cutting off ONLY 1/10ths of the world, and thats a lot of **** to do. We would be waiting like four years. Which I would.

I am very hyped. I know this was only a demo and it has its flaws for sure, but that doesn't mean all of us aren't going to have countless hours of fun playing on it.

I am also extremely hyped for R2TW

But I also think that the arty needs to be fixed.... but its still not finished and much polishing work has to be done so fingers crossed. However, it needs to be said that most man hit by a ballista or a chariot will eventually stand up again!

I am very very excited by this game and I am waiting september the 3rd each day but it doesn't means that I liked all I saw.

What I would like to be corrected are the problems of physics we saw in the last trailer, specialy the one with the chariots. We are fed up with this particular bad animation that we can see in each TW game since Rome I.
It's just that you have a wonderful game in front of you eyes and suddenly a mario cart animation!
It's just as if this animation come from another game, cheaper and unworked.

There are professionnals complainers we know it, but it doesn't mean that we have also to approove all we see. Sometimes, this forum has made the TW games be improved because it happens that CA team listens to his fans.

Yes, I do agree that not all what we see in Rome2 is perfect, I also think chariots and the impact could have been better. But I think the overall scope of the game looks really impressive. Some things might need a bit more work and polishing. Some things perhaps need modding. But I think Rome2 vanilla will be very epic to play.

I feel people sometimes forget how much interaction you have in battles and in the campaign map and the scope of the overall game.
    • Lots of different battle tactics now (ambush, naval invasions, sieges, land battles, etc.). So awesome to do beach landings and see your troops storm it! (like the movie Troy, watch the extended version, real epic)
    • Also the nations are really cool so far! I assume there will be a lot of little minor-factions aswell. Its just so much more interesting.
    • A lot of unit variety!!!
    • Armies are really unique! What if you get constantly beaten down by for example the legendary Cast of Anubis of Ptolemy Empire....and you finally decide to move in your best legion, the fearless Legion IX with an outstanding reputation and general. You get this 'clash of the titans' feeling all over!

Just to name a few things which to me, sounds really cool.

Yes, game looks awesome. The end.

I was seriously considering preordering, but not anymore. RS 2, EB, RTR and I hope EB2 it is until (and if it will be modable) modding community makes something to change okay game to great game.

Honestly ,every time CA was gonna launch a game ,they disapointed me several times .But if im still here after 13 years its due they are the best or maybe it was due the modds ?

In grafics they are the best ,but, as im a passion for militar warfare and always looked into this game as a unique game based on that i dislike any changes they implement just to make easier the aproach and the learning for the new players.

The game will be great, but will fail to live up to the hype. 98% of people who play the game will get over that, and begin to enjoy Rome II

Though I understand some of the concerns popular on this board (a few of which I also hold), the sheer extent of nitpicking is baffling and pathetic. The game looks utterly stunning. If you want to play a game that plays exactly like a mod of the original Rome, then play a mod of the original Rome. People complain about DLCs and money grabbing, yet they have gotten no doubt thousands of hours of entertainment for relatively little money from this company. I've rarely seen such entitlement from fans, and that's saying a lot.

I like that Asterix and Obelix obviously make an appearance in this game: http://i.imgur.com/2vR4KcN.gif

This will be game of the year for me, if not for the last 5 years.

All TW-games need to be modded for better realism though, so I hope it is still possible to change the speed, range, morale, damage and all the other attributes of the units.
As expected, the naval units move like speedboats, not like heavy galleys powered by muscle-power. But all these things will be changed by modding (including the new unit-cards!), and my guess is that after a few months, we will have the best damn ancient-game ever produced!

The only unknown factor that could spoil the game, is the AI.
In every TW-game I had to handicap myself by modding and house-rules to give the battle- and strategy-AI a chance. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to program an AI in such a complex game like Rome II, but I know CA are doing their best. Shogun 2 was def. a leap forward in diplomacy and battle/strategy-AI, so I hope CA continues to make progress.

Anyway, I think we can look forward to an amazing piece of software that can entertain us for months, if not years, and set a new standard for how epic a game can look and play.
And all this for the price of a meal...

    Cheers,
