[SS 6.4] El Cid the Glorious. A short Aragonese AAR

Hi everyone, this is my first M2TW AAR an it will be a short one so I can be proud to finish it!
It will have two parts: The Prelude and The Battle and it's about the Siege of Valencia in my Aragonese campaign, I will not make a full one because you already have Paragon's which is way better! But maybe later, when I will have something interesting to show you I will make another short AAR...
Stainless Steel 6.4 -the medium AI, not the hardest or the easiest one, I think Lusted's... Permanent forts... Eh, M/M... Early campaign... normal assimilation... that's all I know!

All started with this:







But I knew what was going to happen… El Cid was a tough warrior. My little brother Ramiro went against him since the death of our father but his army was defeated almost inevitable,. His men reached the walls but the Jinetes and the foot javelinmen were too strong for the poor militia. Only Ramiro and few men survived the siege but with a horrible shame on his name. Fortunately, he cleaned it later by conquering Palma and the Baleares in a tough but decisive battle.












Now that Ramiro is the governor of Palma, somebody else must lead an army towards Valencia. My brother Alfonso should leave Zaragoza and bring honor to his country. I should call a messenger and send him a letter right now… “Sire, I have good news!” announced a diplomat entering the council room.
”What is it, Eusebio?”
”The muslims have made a horrible mistake!”
”Let me see!”










“Good! Now that Leon and Portugal are at war with them , we should not fear an attack while besieging Valencia!”
“Now, what information did Mauricio send from Valencia?”
“Enough noble lord! Even if Ramiro’s attack failed he definetly weakened El Cid! But I fear that a victory will have its consequences , the people worship him, they call him “the Chivalrous”!
“We will see later what will we do with the population… We must win the fight first!”







After a year… the income raised our already big treasury, as Ramiro says, money are worthless if there are no people to spend them on… It’s true, the only soldier we can recruit is the plain spear militia…
I looked on the window, a priest was spreading word from Rome… A crusade has been called…












After Alfonso will finish in Valencia, I should send him in Cairo and bring us closer to the Pope.
“Sire, letter from Mauricio!”

Your loyal subject reports Sire, the worst we could think happened, Moors attacked Valencia by a naval invasion. Fortunately their armies are small and may be defeated by El Cid so we can later profit from his weakened garrison. Also a Moorish Imam tries to convert the local people and it seems it’s working.

These are indeed bad news from the south but my mood is better now that I heard the Pope accepted the alliance we proposed him. The relations between us are perfect. Aragon and Portugal are the pontiff’s favourite subjects.













Alfonso was happy that he will go in the East but his happiness didn’t last long as news from the Crusader States arrived.












I am happy for them, the first christandom shield in the East, they deserve to take the prize: Fatimids’ capital.

It’s been another year since the Crusade Call, a strange event occurred and Alfonso didn’t have to wait any longer for the Moors’ siege of Valencia result. A small Moor ship blocked our port , it was enough, our strong fleet sunk the foolish emissary of war and Alfonso started his road. With some money from our big treasury he payed some mercenaries.(macemen and spearmen)











The odds didn’t seem favorable…
---------I will now write from Alfonso’s perspective.-------------
Ah! The feeling of war! These muslim bastards will feel my mace in their skulls!













As we are marching to the main army, a small platoon of Bedouin Cavalry was detached from the reinforcing Moors, they thought they will catch us by surprise but they met the mercenary spearmen. Our men were peppered by 4 waves of javelins but then, too confident, the cavalry engaged them in melee and were slaughtered.













(sorry I didn’t take photos for the rest of the battle but it takes some focus to charge routing units with the general bodyguard. Just kidding I forgot…)



The rest of their army didn’t took us too many casualities but I still lost two of my men, they will be forever remembered… I sent their bodies to Zaragoza to be properly buried in the way of christians.











Cakmak: HI ,I CAKMAK YOU HAZ CAKE?
Alfonso: What? You are from Kirila’s other AAR, what are you doing here?
Cakmak: CAKMAK BORED, CAKMAK WANT BE KNIGHT IN TIN!
Alfonso:Eh, ok… We need 2 men in my unit, would you like to join?

After Cakmak joined, we continued our road to Valencia and besieged it. After a year, we will assault El Cid and put an end to its “Chivalrous” existence.
Cakmak: NICE HORSY! CAKMAK CALL YOU LEGGY CUZ YOU HAZ NICE LEGS!
Alfonso: Oh, shut up!

Oh, God! Cakmak’s fortune biscuit didn’t tell us anything good, the siege of Valencia is still continuing as we build our assault equipment. I am still waiting for news from Pedro, I hope everything is good back home…


In both Zaragoza and Barcelona, the King ordered the build of a ballista maker as it will shorten our sieges and allow us to expand faster. Also in the cities mentioned above, two merchants are trained to make money for the kingdom













It’s Anno Domini 1114, we are still building our equipment , ready to strike in any moment unheard by our enemy…
Cakmak: CAKMAK IS HERE !!!!! YOU SEE CAKMAK? CAKMAK BUILDS SHEEP AND TALL THINGY!













The crusaders were successful in Cairo, and all the Christendom is happy! The ruler of the muslims lays now dead on the sands of his own city! Surprisingly, Pope still love us as much as before! To make things even better one ally declared war against our only enemy!















1115 was a year with not so many important things for our kingdom. One of our merchants is heading Venice for its silk and the other one is staying here, in his homeland…
















The happiness of 1115 is quickly replaced by a horrible year. The Fatimids are besieging Cairo! In the same time, Moors make a ceasefire with us, just to be able to move their armies in the mainland!













Our diplomat has reached Venice, the most marvelous city of our times!










Cakmak: HAI AI CAKMAK! CAN CAKMAK HAZ BOAT?
Venetian*Italian speech*:Who are you stranger? Don’t you know that boats are like our lives, here in Venezia?
Cakmak: DONT YOU KNOW CAKMAK HAZ SWORD.CAKMAK CAN HAZ BOTH BOAT AND LIFE!
Venetian:Oh my God, no, please spare me and my boat, I have a family!
Cakmak: CAKMAK LIKEZ KITTENZ!

As we expected ,Moors are near Valencia, and a fleet with almost 400 men is heading towards them. We can’t let them take the city! I ordered Mauricio to spy the mainland army, I didn’t expect this…













3,2,1, WAR! Our fleet has destroyed theirs ! And now Alfonso is assaulting Valencia, we must move fast!

We were trained for this! Now go to war !
Men: Hooray!
Cakmak: GO FOR CAKE!
Men:FOR CAKE!
Alfonso:And for glory!
Men:AND FOR MORE CAKE!
We have 2 siege towers, one with the macemen and one with a unit of spear militia. A ram used by another spear militia is heading towards the gates.













El Cid is waiting in the town square. Our macemen are fighting on one wall against a bunch of javelinmen and on the other wall is a militia vs militia combat. As the ram reaches the gates, the rest of my spearmen are taking out the bloody Jinetes from the game!














El Cid remains the only capable unit in the battle, as the horn blows Alfonso and his men are going through the gates and the city. Our men are facing El Cid from the front as Alfonso is charging in his back!









The charge is devastating… El Cid falls the first and his men are easy meat. The rest of his men are chopped by bolts and arrows, we are victorious…







The city have been sacked even if we didn’t need the money . but the people to be happy. I ordered the upgrade of the castle immediately and the training of some peasants to help us in the inevitable siege of the Moors. Palma is sending us 2 units of spear militia in help, too. And now a moment of silence for our fallen men and the Glorious El Cid who fought bravely since the last second…
Cakmak:HEREZ CAKE! CAKMAK PARTY!
Men: Party!

Cakmak was in Russia drinking Vodka and having fun with some Russian women , so any battle could mean defeat.

Meanwhile….

Another big army comes to besiege our newly conquered castle. Fortunately, reinforcements are coming by sea and land. But is still not enough! I stealthily leave the castle to Murcia and take a bunch of mercenaries.













Our garrison is large and we wait for the Moors with opened arms. Their army is mainly militia and desert dudes but they are a lot…










Meanwhile…
Cakmak: Ride the teddy, comrade, ride the teddy!
Teddy the Bear: Snorrrrrrr…. (then suddenly, a wild Cakmak jumps in his back)…. DUDE WTF!? Serghei! We talked about freaks like this one!
Cakmak:Cakmak no freak, Cakmak iz SUPERHEERO!
A random reader: Hey man ,what is with all this text?
Cakmak: HI AI CAKMAK, DO YOU HAZ CAKE?
Kirila: Don’t listen to him, he’s drunk….
Cakmak:CAKMAK NO DRUNK… CAKMAK HAPPYYYyyyy… Ewwwh, why the purple lights turned off? (faints snoring)
Kirila: That was it. Well, I put this amount of text because I don’t have many screenies for the last chapter. It’s a short one and I want to make the prologue for the next AAR this night, so leave random reader!


Our diplomat reached the Bizantines and we are going to support them against Hungary and Venice for any price! Our alliance already settled the war between them and the Sicilians. In the same time, the Moors ran like … like … I don’t know… Ussaid Bolt! Yeah ,I could’ve ended here and finish it but NO!











We will haunt them in the woods, plains and desert. But we must be careful , they can ambush us! We must see their positions! Cakmak use your Elf Eyes!
Cakmak: CAKMAK USE HIS POWERS!













Good, now we will get them!
First, I took the smaller army ,but they ran away , so I went to the other one. Meanwhile, our noble neighbour signed a bloody peace with the desert dudes. I should not forget this…














Soon, the last men of their grand army (a bunch of desert dudes with bows and lasers and ****) are charged in the back and sent to the Paradis Oasis…







The voices of the poor prisoners and the one of God himself made me have mercy…
Cakmak(whispering at Alfonso’s ear): Don’t kill desert dudes , they may have cake(you got it?)…







Here the story of Cakmak ends, he will not make appearance in my next AAR because I feel the need of making a serious one. But hey, a CAKMAK SUNDAY doesn’t hurt, does it?
