Default Diplomacy.....will it be any different?

Has there been much said about Diplomacy in RTW2?
I didn't get Shogun 2, so my latest impressions of the diplomacy aspects of the Total War series are still Empire, which, in my opinion are almost useless. Diplomacy has had such little weight, but in reality could [should] be a major factor.
So are there going to be any developments to the diplomatic part of the game?

To be fair, we haven't heard much about the diplomacy and its options.

Total War FB page : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...levant_count=1

Aleksejs Miščuks : Just please...please!!!, don't dumb down diplomacy. You have such great game engines, you should have such great diplomacy & interaction engines as PI games!

Total War : Diplomacy's going to be more in-depth than before.

More info will be released soon i am sure but from what we know now coodinating attacks with other factions sounds different.

    +rep for effort

I knew about coordinating attacks with allies, thought there might have been some more info that has leaked out the last couple of days.

Sorry if it sounded harsh on the internet OP. I didn't mean to. I just read a lot and saw several posts from CA confirming that it will be more in depth in other places aswell. No harm intended!

Hopefully today we will get some extra info on Diplomacy from the E3 Total War : Rome 2 conference.

    No harm taken.
I just think that a little more weight on diplomacy would be nice, especially playing as a minor faction.

Does anyone remember the old Europa Universalis game? That was a game with diplomacy at it's core with war as a last resort.
Now I don't want RTW2 to go to that degree. Because Total War is about.... War, after all, but more political intrigue could make for a bit more interesting game.

the success of the last Europa Universalis and Crusader Kings shows that people are ready for far better, in depth diplomacy than that we have experienced thus far in the total war series.

it is THE issue for me in every tw release. although improved with Shogun (imo the first time theyve actually delivered on promises of improving the diplomacy, despite said promise being made every release) it still pales in comparison to anything PI have done.

ive been trawling the net for anything r2 related. dying to see more!

Well, diplomacy actually leads to the ultimate question -> war or surrender, I agree with OP that it is quite important. And not I only agree with him here, but I go ahead to expect some more depth in this region.

And I am not just saying this just like that. Since, games are developing in graphics, we could reasonably expect this. If any of the CA is reading this, I'll post some of the diplomacy problems in TW games soon in another thread.

Actually for me NTW was a big improvement on diplomacy at least option wise. Being able to give regions to vassals and giving back a region to an ally that was recently lost made diplomacy useful.

I have posted in your thread.

About NTW and S2 diplomacy, please see this as creative criticism. The changes are mostly cosmetic, as it seems to me. For instance, consider the protectorate option in those games. Firstly, factions do not even accept it even on brink of their destruction. While this is an admirable quality, it seems a bit unrealistic in those time, and that too if everyone does it. Further, the protectorates are at best completely useless and annexing seems the best option. Why? I don't see any protectorates supporting in a war, or supplying troops etc.

I got some Diplomacy information here that i forgot about!

Diplomatic Relations ViewHover over a faction and you’ll be presented with a little window that breaks-down the factors that are influencing their opinion of you. Think of every Paradox game you’ve ever played (apart from maybe HoI), and it’s basically that, just less detailed. Not everything will be shown in this view, there will be hidden modifiers to present exploitation, but also every AI faction has their own agenda that they are working towards, which is derived from factors like starting position, culture etc…

Finally, the AIs will have their own unique personalities. Like Civilization, you’ll come to realize that certain AIs have different personalities and can be treated in different ways. “We acknowledge that AI is a key part of making the world believable and fun to play. We also want to make them more human and personality-driven; for example, those guys are vengeful, so you don’t want to piss them off because they’ll kick you back, whereas another AI might be more realpolitik and look at the bigger picture.”
