here is the actual video of the fight
I read somewhere that you only have capture points in battles where yer army was forced marched and attacked. If that's the case then they will be rare. But I'm OK with them anyways.

After reading this I'm even more excited about the massive campaign map.

I guess we've had captured points before just in siege battles though. I just hope the ones on the map are actual critical positions like a ridge or a choke point, or supplies.
Not just oh heres one on this side of the map, and evenly on the other side too.

They are supply depots or camps or something like that. Not geographical location or anything. At least not that I've heard.

Thanks for sharing with us OP but tbh its another "this game is awesome and cant wait" ish review.

Imo, the game has entered the beta phase and there are lots of things to iron out, fix, refine and such. E3 presentation was a bit shallow and excuse my word but irritating especially because of arcade animations.

    But again thanks for sharing,

This. The guy probably had an orgasm too while he wrote this. There is not even 1 hint of criticism to the game. You have to be a new player to be like this but Jetzu says he is a big fan. More like a big hype fan.

hahahahahahha tbh i try to be relaxed before enter the forum Yoga, orgasm, lsd you name it... I don't know what to say.

Besides, i'm having real diffuculty when it comes to read reviews and critics. It's hard to maintain mental stability. In one hand people are so hyped and "cant wait" this is so "awesome" that is so "great". And in the other we're all doomed. Nothing can be that good, bad, hopeless et cetera.

But, CA' historic authencity needs to be refined by solid info, articles and such. Despite being a positive guy i can't stand those animations. I've never seen such stretched artistic freedom even in LOTR movies. And what suprises me the most is each TW game famed with the realism mods. EB, Darth, RTR you name it but i think the playerbase was trying to tell something by favoring them so high.

    Just an example:

Same engine, same theme and era, release two games:

    1-RTW vanilla
    2- Europa Barbarorum / RTR

What would you buy, pay for? Would you pay for Celtic Head hurlers or Hellenikoi Kataphractoi? Flaming pigs or Thorakitai? Put that aside for a moment and think, which one was more entertaining?

We're not doomed by those anims and capture points but something seems went wrong with CA and somehow they think by levitating soldier and HE catapult rounds they'll reach a larger audience and make the game cool. Nope its not guys.

And what i want to see? Realistic animations! That's all! When i see a catapult bombardment i wanna see smashed soldiers not a Terran nuclear launch. And for chariots? A bloody mess like in the Alexander movie. Chopped off legs and organs. Soldiers pushed sides not to launch on moon Frankly, is this being a historic accuracy freak? Demanding which is impossible?

And how Hannibal defeated the Romans in Cannae? By capturing their camp or smashing and butchering their legions?

well top of the hill seems like a good place for a capture point actually....

really do not get the 'anti-capturepoint-thingy'.

Sure when you outnumber the enemy, and loose because you failed to defend a CP that sucks, but really you shouldnt fail. I like the tactical implication, and am hoping for some critical point like Sun Jetzu mentions; this way the CP's will add to the game!

Guys, for gods sake have you ever read a story of certain battle and noticed any capture points. From Alexander to Marlborough, Ceasar to Gustav Adolph, Hannibal to Patton Battles are won when you defeat them in field and drive them away and kill more as possible! You capture the field as a whole by defeating enemy.

If CA wants to put people in a challenging situation such as preventing turtle tactics and exploits by forcing them on to march on enemy then its fine but i've serious doubts on that capture system. But keep that in your mind if Rome battles become CoH battles just because of those points then it'll become a total mess for all. That's what i afraid most!

Besides, i'm not frantically against any new system nor an oldschool zealot but in the mean time i just want to know more and even detailed information on such critical matters.

    Anyway, time will tell right?

Capture points are for the attackers to take, and are one way of winning a battle along with the old ways of you know beating the enemy army. They are implemented to help removed some exploity tactics used by players such as corner camping. from jack lusted

I'm not 100% on the capture points...guess maybe its historically accurate in some situations. but sounds kinda tedious. Did they say what happens if you do or do not capture them?
Ide be pissed if it starts a timer.....I'm getting a little bummed out I guess.
