I have been a member of the site of almost 10 years now and I have seen some crazy request threads over the years. NTW was probably the most ridiculous with the uniform buttons and mustaches though. I wouldn’t get too caught up on those topics and just post in the topics you find interesting.

Well OP, it's just how some people are. The reason the west is progressing is because some people are never content. And so of course that mentality is going to spill into all aspects of life, including this game.

Maybe because people who pay for a product, mainly when this product is a lot more expensive than the others ,demands a almost prefect one.

What is almost perfect? What seems almost perfect to me, isn't almost perfect to others it seems...
Still CA needs to put a price on THEIR game which 'needs to be in line' with all the efforts put in.

The definition of 'perfect' is very very subjective. Therefore, the only perfection CA should strive for is their own vision of perfection, because it's their concept.

I think it's really cheap for a game like this. I would easily given it 70 or 80 euro on release... It's far better dan the newest COD or Battlefield and they ask the same prices.. So overall I'm suprised that I can get it pro-orderd for 30 euro, those game I just mentioned are still more expensive a year after release....

I'm excited about Rome II and all that matters is that it's fun to play, I don't know anything about their clothing and I don't know much about the type of units, or language in that time, or borders...

So I guess I'll be having a lot more fun playing this game

I think it's largely because a lot of the people who post these comments are deeply interested in the ancient world, have studied it for years, and have a pre-set idea of what they want the game to be like. So if they see mid 1st Century AD legionaries in 3rd century BC they don't like it. When Napoleon was about to come out, the reaction was far worse as there were many dedicated grognards who could point out all the tiniest mistakes in the military uniforms, from a missing button on the lapel here, to the wrong type of flintlock pan mechanism used by the Imperial Guard or whatever. I am hugely interested in Rome II's time period and I disliked what I thought were inaccuracies that were peddled in the original Rome, but it seems Rome II has improved in leaps and bounds over the original Rome. It's not perfect (nothing can be perfect) but I'm pretty certain CA have worked hard to get some of the details correct. Sure, the Egyptians might seem a little too 'New Kingdom-ish' or the sandals for the Macedonian Pezhetairoi are first century AD Roman Caligae, but these are sort of understandable. The game has to appeal to the broader audience that isn't made up of die hard Roman fans, and I think CA have made a nice balancing act that isn't too far out, but isn't 100% accurate either. And when talking of 100% accuracy, remember this quote by Martin Windrow for Osprey publishing:
The Primary sources for subjects from this dawn of military history, and particuarly for any pictorial reconstructions are strictly limited. Producing anything worth publishing demands the kind of academic detective work - seeking out fragmentary literary survivals, sculptures, wall-paintings and mosaics - that only a few people can do, and that even fewer are willing to publish in our format. Authors working on these periods have to be familiar with a broad range of work, published in several languages, before they can make educated comparisons and deductions. They also need courage, because making deductions from fragmentary sources inevitably involves 'generalizing from the particular', which is the great trap for any historian. Because the primary sources are so few, and their true context is often so uncertain, there is a temptation to make risky assumptions (a polite word for 'guesses') based on purely notional relationships between different finds, sometimes across gulfs of time and place... Because the ancient period demands so much of our authors, they deserve a special respect - for having the passion to study their subjects long and patiently, the self-discipline to rein in their guesswork and the honesty to show 'their workings'. In this field it is inevitable that new conclusions will continue to be reached for generations to come; that is the nature of scholarship - and it always depends upon those who have the courage to publish their work-in-progress."*
    * phew, took me a while to type it all out.

Well I don't really mind the 'what if' scenario provided it was done in a believable way. Of course the level is different between one type of player than the other. Even a linear media like historical documentaries can't always get it right what else can we expect from an interactive media like a video games ?

Everyone have the right to express their dissatisfaction of any aspect from the game, whether it sandals or eyebrow length for example but since this is a forum I hope that they'll understand that some, if not many people will disagree. Freedom of speech works both way, as long as the site TOS is not broken then all is fair.

the problem in that statement is that we are actually right about something, which isnt true at all.

Look at it this way, would you rather be looking forward to the game with giddy excitement or being sent into a furious rage because a screenshot showed an army stack of one unit? I know which I prefer!

Yeah, don't mind all the doomsayers. I have been stalking these forums since Empire, and its always the same with every new game. Most of the people are going to love the game, its just that the historical nazis are the most audible players in this forum. Don't get me wrong, I love history, but a video game is a video game.

Well, some people just have too much time and way too little intelligence.

You could make the best game in the world and give it away for free,- still you would have some people whining and complaining on this forum.

Do as I do,- check in once in a while to see if there is some REAL information from CA or the developers, and then get the hell out!
That way, you can avoid all the morons and their useless speculation over a game that has not even been released yet, but still be informed

Why is it never enough?Because the more puerille, pathetic and ungrateful of the TWC members ALSO happen to be the most vocal and also the most prolific spammers of 'WAH-threads'.

Then why for shogun 2 the units spoke japanese?
It would have been a nice touch if the romans spoke latin , greeks greek , and for the unknown languages just a mixture made up ...
