Icon6 'MANICA' in the game? (Screen of Roman character)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manica_%28armguard%29

I know that this armor was used by legionnaires in the 1st-2nd century AD.
However, on the screenshot you can see a character who has it in hand.

Will be 'manica' in Rome 2? Especially late period of the game?

Wow, that's a good notice. I suppose it is, since that guy who I assume is an agent is wearing it. So why wouldn't it be in actual battle gameplay as well? Kinda cool that you noticed that :-)

I have no problem with this whatsoever.

If you're doing a good job as a Legionnaire, the most exposed part of your body is going to be your sword arm.

Those few plates are a symbol of pure ingenuity.

I refuse to believe that not a single Legionnaire who fought in a war never even once thought about 'wow, my stabby arm is really vulnerable' sooner than in the 1st century AD xD

If you're the general and got the money and the available metal, why not? xD

The picture doesn't make much clear, but after there are no typical units signs i would guess it is an agent and he also doesn't look like a legionary so it could be totally a gladiator agent unit and as we know gladiators used this kind of protection much earlier than the legionaries.

It's definitely an agent, you can tell that by the round faction icon over his head. The agent is also obviously the Champion type, that also goes for the Nubian, Greek warrior, and Galatian woman warrior seen in the screenshot as well.

It is a Roman Champion ie a Gladiator, Murmillo Gladiators were armored like that. Watch Spartacus Blood and Sand and see for yourself.

He's not a gladiator 'cause he wears a segmentata, it's a champion dressed in full armor with manica and protection for legs to make him appear more badass. At least i think.

I remember the late heavy legionaries in mods like RTR and RS being armoured with manica arm guards. It looks pretty cool, although I notice that some (but not all) Roman military historians seem to argue that they were only used during the Dacian wars as a reaction to the Dacian falx. This is because most of out pictorial evidence for the manica comes from this era. I don't know if they continued to e used after c. AD 100, or whether they were in use before that but they look cool all the same.

    nice notice.

I do hope that manica will be in-game not only on the agent, but on some heavy legionnaires as well.

Well spotted, I think it's safe to assume that with the right technologies unlocked it will be possible to (partially) 'upgrade' legions with manica or to recruit 'heavy' legionaires or something like that.

It simply looks to cool for CA to pass up on the chance to use them.

It's probably there to illustrate his ability to train/improve troops. Not sure about ancient times but in medieval times the arm guard was used for sparring with real weapons.

could be totally a gladiator agent unit and as we know gladiators used this kind of protection much earlier than the legionaries.
He isn't a gladiator. Gladiators didn't use completely legionaries armors.
