Where I live censorship laws prohibit me from buying the blood and gore DLC for Shogun 2.
That is not because it was put on the Index of games not fit for sale due to their content, but because CA didn`t let the DLC be available on the German market.
And since the product is not available here, the ministries responsible for checking games over their content and giving them a age rating or censoring them wasn’t even capable of making an assessment.
This was obviously done on purpose by CA, because even although it is technically speaking not available for purchase here, one can still acquire it through friends via Steam that purchase it for you.
I am not entirely sure about the legality of this practice, but I am pretty sure that it is a loophole in the German legal system for which no charges can be set up in a court.
The problem in getting the DLC for someone like me who lives in a country with a strict legal set of rules on gore, sex, drugs etcetera in games, isn’t so much the legal framework itself, but other gamers. Meaning that whenever I asked a person on steam to buy it for me, in exchange for me buying him a DLC which costs about 3 euros (average unit pack or so), I was confronted with the extreme greed by some gamers who were willing to exploit the legal inconvenience I live in. Most people would demand that I pay them up to 10 Euros and one particularly sleazy Australian bastard first asked for 30 and later for 20 and argued as if he was doing me a favour.
I haven’t yet found a single individual willing to accept my offer of 3 Euros for a DLC or other of his/her choice. I might be willing to spend more and raise the price to 5 euros. But my main problem still remains, that I am not capable of finding a decent person on steam via the games I play.
I hope that there may be someone on this forum who is willing to participate in this deal, and also willing to stay in contact, in case the same inconvenience should affect me after the release of Rome II. Thank you.
