Default Will other Roman families died out once you become an empire?

In the old Rome total war, your rival families and the Senate faction basically died out once you defeated them in a civil war. Will this be the same in Rome 2? Will the families still be around after you turn Rome into an empire and conspire for the throne? Or are you unopposed the second you become emperor?

I'd love some political intrigue! But my guess is they'll disappear and randomly named generals can be appointed for generalship.

No but they will either join your 'family' or become 'Liberators'.

I hope they stay on in some respects - rebellions, revolts, perhaps even appearing with enemy factions to try and dethrone you.

Oh, and conspiracies too! Et tu, CA?

The families will take a break. They will be waiting. Once you, the Emperor, lose the people's favour, they will suddenly revolt and throw you from the Imperial throne. The Senate will do the same thing. At the time you're sent to Parthia, the Republic will be proclaimed once again and fight you gloriously.

It would be interesting if there was a culture/family system (kind of similar to EB). Each family member has a culture or family he is part of and it gets passed down to the children. So if your initial tree has one guy and his sons they'd be the same family/culture. But if you have a daughter who marries someone from a different culture/family it might secure an alliance for the immediate time but it possibly creates dissent in later generations.

Well even Imperial Rome had family issue,s.
    The Senate still existed.

How will seasons work if the game is 1 turn per year?
Is it going to be random?
I'd hate it if the game is just normal spring weather every time.

The senate lingered on for centuries after Augustus took control of the republic and had it turned into an Empire, so I don't see a reason, why the families or the senate should vaporize after you seize the Imperial throne.

Because I'll kill them all because I'm a total douchebag because I'm just like that?

As long we get the option to kill them all as soon as you become a dictator, unlike ceasar I would not spare my enemies, then I m fine with the CHOICE to keep them.

It would be cool to be able to restore the republic after an other player became emperor. But I think it won't be possible to continue playing

What I'm really curious is if your family doesn't win the seat for the faction, what happens?
