    Default Ptolemaic Secret Weapons

Can someone explain me what kind of missile is the one thrown at approximately 1:00 of the Cleopatra trailer?

Is it just me or the Egyptians are throwing pikes at the Romans?

Poor GNU07... you didn´t know yet about the horrid laser tracer arrows they´ve put into Rome II. Sorry to be the one to tell you.

    It looks hilarious!

I almost threw up when i saw the legionnaires throwing their pila at Germans in the Teutoburg video, but said "meh that's pre-alpha".. So is it still pre alpha then??

OMG NO! where did he confirm that they are absoultly horrid!

I thought Rome 2 was supose to be a progression of the the series and these laser tracers look flat out stupid. Not only that they look worse then what we have had in past TW games. I hope they can be disabled if not they are the first thing I will be ripping out of my Rome 2 installation. Oh damn I'll have to wait for commuinty tools before I can unpack the files.

There were mods for removing tracers in Shogun II before the mod tools came, so i wouldn't be too worried.

I'm ok with having tracers, but they must not look like long ribbons attached to the arrows (like in the gameplay video), a bit less conspicuous would be good. I mean, I get it, they want you to see that someone is shooting projectiles and they want you to now where they came from and where they are going, but half the length of what we have seen would still do the trick.

These laser-tracers are the most ridiculous invention since...öh... ever!! It's killing the whole battle atmosphere, I can't take this serious. More like Kindergarten! Maybe there are laser-sounds as well, when arrows are fired.... My god, awful!

To be honest, guys, I'm not a fan of the tracers too but they are going to be very useful! If there were no tracers, you'd have no idea where those arrows were coming from. We usually zoom out when commanding troops and these levels are bigger, and if these tracers weren't there, you'd have a unit of yours getting devoured and you wouldn't even notice. The thing is, guys, CA are putting in a lot of new stuff, some of which really isn't going in a lot of people's good books, but the one thing I have seen that is consistent, is that CA are implementing features which are USEFUL, and in some cases, necessary. Thanks, CA. I may have a few reservations about some of the things because I can't see the final product, but I KNOW it will turn out great!

Good Sir, the whole idea of ambushes is, that you don't exactly KNOW where the enemy fire is coming from. It's realistic and allows archers to shoot 2-3 volleys, before they got attacked.

Also I'm not against arrow tracers entirely, only against their laser-look. Discreet like in M2TW would have done it without the feeling of a sci-fi battle.

LOL I know that. The whole point of an ambush is surprise. What you have to realise though is that people complain to CA about things like this. There is going to be a whole wave of newcomers to the TW series with this launch, not every fan is hardcore and CA have to find that balance. I would prefer an option to have it or not that we choose from the settings, but things like this can annoy newcomers and we all know how AI like to spam missile units. Just my take on it.

If you want to play the game, you'd better learn how to play it first.
Today's games are too easy, giving and doing everything to help the player....

Yet to the soldiers who have suffered the casualties it would be immediately obvious from where did the attack come from.
It's different with slingshot, I'll grant you that.

The problem is that even at close distances, nothing has been done to improve missiles visually. Right now all i see is lines. White lines for normal missiles, yellow lines for flaming missiles. That's it. Even RTW and M2TW look 100x better! Look at 8:10 of the Teutoburg video.

    Yep, those were pila.

PS: Btw i also support CA and liked generally what they've done so far, but this has to go seriously. Even if they are the most useful thing in battles, it's so ugly and futuristic that has to be banned forever and from all CA titles.
