Have not found anything on this.
Will we see the Praetorian Guard in TWR2? If so I wonder how will we get this unit and what flavor as, infantry, Calvary, general only, all? Just wondering...

In Republican times the Praetorians served as guards for Praetors, Consuls and Generals in the field, and were not really like the Emperor's Elite of later times. Perhaps they'll serve the same function as the Daimyo's Hatamoto in Shogun II, as an Elite Cavalry guard, or maybe as an infantry cohort such as those used by Octavian at Actium (there were five of them in all) while Antony had three in his Eastern campaigns against Parthia. There isn't much info on Pratorian cavalry forces from the Late republic - here's an illustration of a late first/early second century AD Praetorian Cavalry force:![]()

I'm pretty sure they'll appear like they did in Rome 1, with probably the limit elite units have in Empire TW.
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ- come and take them!

Adds to my fun factor..I'm pretty sure they'll appear like they did in Rome 1, with probably the limit elite units have in Empire TW.![]()
I love the idea of them, though my imagination runs wild when I hear the name. I think of purple-clad super soldiers or, worse yet, something like these guys:

The Praetorians are so well known so i'm sure they are in.
I'm assuming they will be a garrison unit in Rome or something like that. A bit like the samurai retainers in Shogun 2.
Well historically they guarded the "praetorium" in Republican times, but CA won't be extremist accuracy freaks - odds are that with the Marian Reforms (just like Rome 1) the Praetorian Guard will be recruitable, maybe just in Rome or something.
PS - DON'T bring those bloody Urban Cohorts in again (or if you do CA, don't make their stats higher than the Praetorians).
I honestly dont really care to see them.

So you want Amazons but not Praetorian Guards? Are you sure you wouldn't rather play Age of Mythology?
OP, yes they should be (and probably will be) in the game. A cavalry general's bodyguard and an elite infantry unit will be most likely. And like Sharpe said, hopefully only recruited in Rome and/or at a limited capacity.
When Hiero returned to besiege their base (Messana) in 265 BC the Mamertines called for help from a nearby fleet from Carthage, which occupied the harbor of Messana. Seeing this, the Syracuse forces retired, not wishing to confront Carthaginian forces. Uncomfortable under the Cathaginian "protection," the Mamertines now appealed to Rome to be allowed into the protection of the Roman people. At first, the Romans did not wish to come to the aid of soldiers who had unjustly stolen a city from its rightful possessors. However, unwilling to see Carthaginian power spread further over Sicily and get too close to Italy, Rome responded by entering into an alliance with the Mamertines. In response, Syracuse allied itself with Carthage, imploring their protection. With Rome and Carthage brought into conflict, the Syracuse/Mamertine conflict escalated into the First Punic War.
Like other elite units, I would like to see the Praetorian guard have very limited availability but really be able to make a difference on the field.
I'm talking more along the lines of taking a wall in a siege and losing 50 men rather than 100 men.
We will see them of course I think

Perhaps the preatorians will be both the general's bodyguard and a seprate unit later on.
