Default Economic and Cultura Victory Conditions

“Each faction has their own military, economic and cultural victory conditions. And there’s no set time limit on achieving victory.”

Finally!!. I wonder how deep the system is going to be. BUT IT WAS ABOUT FREAKING TIME. I mean, I love TW battles, but a strategy game can't depend solely on war. I need to feel that I have options, that I can play in different ways, etc.
So I say: Welcome new feature! I hope you're as good as you sound. Or at least the beggining of serious changes on the saga.

Anyone else is excited about this?
They already said that barbarians transform itselfs into "nations" once they unite all clans. But I doubt that's the cultural victory, because that shouldn't be so hard to achieve and because it doesn't apply to all factions. So,
What do you think the economic and cultural conditions gonna be?.

    (Forgive my english)

welp, on the strategy informer article they said that to win economically you need certain amount of money, buildings, trade partners, and for the culture victory i guess you have to spread your culture, convert everyone or atleast a big chunk of peoples...

Sounds great, I'm sure winning by these means still requires a lot of war (it is Total War after all!), but it would be awesome if you conquer say, Greece and Anatolia, that you can then use diplomacy and subterfuge to allow you spend money on buildings and imprevements rather then more and more troops.

One of the biggest changes in TW so far and it seems few people commenting on it?

We'll have to see how it turns out but I can easily see this satisfying many people who want to take Carthage for example and conquer Hispania and hold Africa + Egypt then defend and build up culturally or economically. I know many people who played RTW who rarely if ever did battles other than auto-calc and instead focused on campaign map play. Defending your empire whilst building economy to a high level will still require battles with handicap of less military buildings in order to afford/have slots to make economic buildings. Cultural victory is more difficult to imagine... spread your cultural over wide area? Maybe long term allies/vassals adopt culture and thus total conquest isn't required but still alot more fighting/map expansion than with an economic victory but less than for a military one?

    Yeah, weird right?

Anyway, I hope they nail it with this. Because as I said before, one of the most annoying things in TW is the dull campaign that gets boring after a while. And yeah, this is called "Total War" but I still think that if they made a more complex game with many different ways of playing it, TW would kick ass over all the other Strategy games.

If it works well, it will be a great addition. In this series I am not looking for as many non-combat options as for example in Civilization, but it is nice to see diplomacy becoming more than a means of getting a breather for 10 turns or so. I mean, it is called Total War after all, but economy, diplomacy and culture matter too.

Well it's not entirely new. Empire tried to introduce Prestige victory, where a strong economy and advanced technologies would gain you prestige as well as land and naval victories. This was ETW of course, so.......... hopefully the AI won't spoil another potential great game.

    Yeah it's kinda suprising.

In any case though I like that there's no time limit. Really hated time limits.

And screw the economic and cultural conditions everything feels better when it's done by the sword

It's a nice feature, to be sure, but I won't be making much use of it. For me, there's no reason to play Total War if you aren't aiming to paint the world map the color of your faction.

This sounds like probably one of the best things to happen to TW. I do thoroughly enjoy taking over the world, but it starts to get dangerously boring once you're top dog. Being able to just sit back and work on managing the empire which has been created without pressing end turn 100 times in a row is going to be fantastic.
