I'm just guessing, maybe these are the kind of battles that occurs when you lay siege on a minor settlement, with the city in the backgound.

A lot of work has been done on making the battle locations more unique, especially with regards to attacking cities and sieges – famous places like Alexandria, Rome, Athens etc… have been designed and rendered as they would have looked like in the 1st Century BC. On the more general side, there are reported to be 30 different city variants.
From the strategy informer part II preview.

Clearly says Athens will have a unique city.

So far the map looks good.

    But:

    - Colors are too cartoonish imho

    - Water doesn't look like water. It needs gradation of deepness/color. Now landmass and ships looks like hanged in the sky.

    - Squeezed mini-map is not good idea, imho. It's better to make it smaller, but keep actual proportions.

    - Triangle marker for point of view on mini-map doesn't reflect actual position of player (it should be placed farther to north on Pontic screenshot)

    - Banners of some distant cities (Amaseia and Ancyra) seems to be placed strangely too far from their cities. And maybe it would be better to make these banners smaller or larger, depending on distance to the city.

    - Is there any way to zoom in/out mini-map? If not, then mess of markers on Egypt is just useless waste of pixels.

Excellent, it looks awesome. No nags here, no need to nag! Very excited for the game.

Is it me or does the panned out battle scene in the trailer suggest that sprites have been done away with on ultra? See no evidence for those horrible things anymore...

Campaign map is super slick, looks like it has captured a lovely atmosphere.

You realise that archer is fighting for the Romans? He could be a merc from another area altogether.

Hey I finally found what is bothering me about the mountains.

I absolutely love the way they look and from a gameplay perspective I think in area's like asia minor they reall add something to manouvring your army. My only problem is that when looking at the video I'm afrad that the really big mountain ranges like the Alps won't consist of much bigger mountains. Somehow this diminishes them a little bit.

Hopefully I'm wrong and will invading italy through the Alps really be an epic challange compared to crossing a few mountains in middel Italy but we'll see.

Anyhow it looks stunning and I can't wait

The game is shaping up to be excellent, I'm glad I've pre-ordered. With COH2 fully released soon, and this 3 months later; 2013 has been a good year for RTS games.

    Oh and Welcome Trish

Online Campaign - Co-op campaign is still only two players, despite the larger size of the campaign map but drop-in/drop-out campaign and battles is also still present. Resources were an issue, but also they feel that they more players they add, the longer each player has to wait for their turn, especially when you consider battles played out etc…

    Another sad day indeed!

It's not like it is gone. They have implemented it, just not improved on it. They might improve it if there is a big enough demand.

I still don't get how CA says this........ but also they feel that they more players they add, the longer each player has to wait for their turn, especially when you consider battles played out etc…

When I have and many others have said countless times how it could work with more players. I don't see how CA cant work a system around this and make it work god are they that lazy????? Countless times people have said it can work easily but I guess CA cant see that what ever I guess. And to say they don't have the resources to make a 4 player campaign work is just a weak excuse if you ask me.
