Default Getting rid of the Blood pack

    Hello all!

Well, I had some loose change jingling in my Steam account, and I decided to invest it in the Shogun 2 blood mod.

I was very impressed with the visual, realistic gore, but there is one problem: My entire game is lagging now, where it was quite smooth before. Not only my battle map, which I would expect, what with a thousand guys having blood sprayed everywhere, but my campaign map too. It still chugs if I lower the setting and/or turn off blood effects.

Could someone tell me how to remove the bloodpack entirely from Shogun 2? Id like to see if it still runs slowly without it, so I know its something else (ie. Massive steam downloads). I find it strange such an add-on is released that could have such a negative impact on the game.

    Peace!

I doubt that has anything to do with bloodpack dlc. i saw no diference in performance due to bloodpack. And i run on a laptop.
Otherwise only the battles would lag, and not the campaing map i think.

Check your settings, it might have been something that you forgot to adjust.

There should be a way to turn it off in game Options too.

Zheng: Where about is the gfx-blood-effects? I had a look through the Shogun 2 folder but couldnt find anything.

God: I turned it off in the options menu but still having considerable lag.

Don't bother to look for preferences file (it's not in Shogun game folder, but rather somewhere like c:\users\"YourUserName"\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts), because it only (more or less) contains what you can set up in game options - if you've turned blood effects off in options you don't need to rummage through preferences file - effect is the same.

Other than that it might be hard to remove it completely. You can try looking for a pack file that has "bp" in its name and move it from Shogun2/data folder to another location and see what happens if you start the game.
But frankly If you've turned it off I would say it shouldn't affect performance at all, so maybe try looking for some other reason it lags.

I do believe Blood DLC affected performance, its like 10% tax performance from what I read about Blood DLC long ago.

OP, I would like to know what spec rig you have? maybe I can tell how your PC perform good or bad.

Yes, but even when it's turned off? Those effects should not be loaded and used when turned off (I think that's the idea), therefore it should not affect performance, although I adimt I'm not sure how exactly game engine works in that instance.
