Default Controlling bridges and mountain passes

In previous total war games I've noticed that, to guard a mountain pass or a river crossing, you have to place an army there, and pay all the upkeep for it turn after turn after turn, which could cost you a lot of money. Do you think it might be a good idea to put like a gate in mountain passes and maybe build a fortified bridge over fords to be able to protect them more easily and avoid all that upkeep, and maybe gain a bit of money by forcing travellers to pay toll?

well, now that armies have different stances (forced march, normal, and raid), you can position your force at a river crossing/mountain pass, and put them in raid stance, so they live off the land and have reduced upkeep.

Remember that you no longer need a bridge to cross a river.

Oh crap! Bridge battles were an effective way to decimate armies! I know that CA know what they are doing, but damn...they will be missed and I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that!
