Stainless Steel Calvary not working

I have this bug where whenever my calvary charge, soon after Every button in their unit menu greys out and they become unresponsive. Sometimes it lasts for a few seconds but other times it lasts for the entire battle turning them into a suicidal unit. It happens the most when hes charging skirmishers or units carrying siege equipments (rams, ladders etc.) This is especially annoying when i try to charge my general into an enemy unit then retreat (so he doesnt get overwhelmed) only for all options to grey out and then the general dying since he wont follow any of my commands anymore. I am using Stainless steel 6.4 mod with Grim realty V, bad ai and well real recruitment mod (whichever 6.4 came with.) I am getting tired of reloading battles hoping that my generals or calvary does not go suicidal at the battle.

i think this is a option in how you command your armies....i just don't remember what one....something about like global general vs. better control. Its suppose to simulate you not having full control and i think its actually from the vinalla game. But i may be making all this up in my head...been away from the game for a bit with real life.
