    Lately I have been wondering about if it would to force an enemy to give up one of their characters in exchange for peace or for a large number of their troops (if the Medieval II captured enemy is ever brought back) etc. This could be similar to the Shogun 2 hostages although possibly permanent.

    It could work in a way such as if their was a general that committed atrocities against your faction (exterminating settlements, executing prisoners etc) or an assassin that killed your faction leader you could demand that character be given to your faction in exchange for peace or a large bribe. Once you have obtained them you could indoctrinate them to serve your cause or execute them. Maybe it could be something such as if a faction wants peace they must execute their faction leader.

    I started thinking of this during my Brutii campaign recently when three of my family members were killed when the enemy attacked a city with a force much larger than mine. I got so angry by this that I sent an army to hunt down the enemy general who launched the attack and destroyed his entire army leaving no one alive. There have been other times were I have been dealt such a harsh blow that I have sworn genocide by wiping the faction off the face of the earth.

    Anyway tell me if you think this is an OK idea. I know it won't be implemented into the game but I always like imagining what cool features their could be.

    I would love to see this feature in the TW series! It will make the campaign even more immersive, I think.

    Like an expanded hostage system in S2TW with the ability to enslave/execute?

I'd rather be any kind of bird (apart from a goose) than be you because to be you I'd have to not be me which I couldn't do unless someone else was me but then they would be you aswell so there would still be no me. They would be you because I was you so to restore balance you would have to be me and them meaning all three of us would become one continously the same. That would be very bad.

    It may be interesting to make the AI give up agent and general. But would you give up your levelled agent and general if the AI were to demand it from you? I certainly won't. Why would I want to give the AI my 8 star general so he can send that general back at me? I doubt you would either. So why would the AI agree to it then? The system just seems quite wacky anyway, like shopping for a high level assassin or a multi-command star general by throwing money.

    Historically, a hostage system was very common in the Roman Era and would be an excellent addition to the game. However, the idea above makes an interesting point about the many problems of implementation into this game.

    I love this idea, but what I want more is to use captured generals/agents as bargaining tools, rather than 10,000 denarii ransoms which no faction can ever afford to pay

    Why instead of an exchange you can make them double agents? I've always wanted to have a double agent, say if I happen to capture an enemy general or agent I can then force them or bribe them into being a double agent and every once in a while they'll give me info about the faction like where the armies are at or

    what city is undefended and if i captured a spy/assassin I could pay them to kill one of their leaders it'll cost me more but it'll have a higher chance of success since the enemy wont expect that the agent was a double agent...this could happen to the player too maybe with agents or generals who have been captured that have really low loyalty they'll be still empoyed with you but might be doulble agents,
