The sarissa or sarisa was a 4 to 7 metre (13–21 feet) long spear used in the ancient Greek and Hellenistic warfare. It was introduced by Philip II of Macedon and was used in the traditional phalanxes of Philip II of Macedon as a replacement for the earlier dory, which was considerably shorter.
The sarissa consisted of two parts. Is sarissa will be distributed during the march, before the soldiers are attacked? The picture below shows how the sarissa was used for the balance of the battle. It would be interesting to see the march of the phalangites, when their enemies do ambush them.
