Default Idea of Hellenistic sarissa in Rome 2

The sarissa or sarisa was a 4 to 7 metre (13–21 feet) long spear used in the ancient Greek and Hellenistic warfare. It was introduced by Philip II of Macedon and was used in the traditional phalanxes of Philip II of Macedon as a replacement for the earlier dory, which was considerably shorter.

The sarissa consisted of two parts. Is sarissa will be distributed during the march, before the soldiers are attacked? The picture below shows how the sarissa was used for the balance of the battle. It would be interesting to see the march of the phalangites, when their enemies do ambush them.

They will probably hold them with their hands.

We know what a sarissa is, and they will most likely be carrying them.

Everyone knows that. My thread relates to its use in the game. Will it be possible to divide it into two parts before the battle, on the march? This will facilitate the ambush on the phalanx.

Well then there is the stress of putting it back together - would it require a new "Sarrisa re-assembly skill"?

It's one of the new Hellenistic exclusive army traditions.

I don't think they will do that. It would probably just be frustrating, for example; WHY THE HELL ARE YOU LAZY GOONS NOT CARRYING YOUR SARISSAS!
    And then they all die.

What happens to the sarissa when the soldier switches to a sword? I hope it doesn't spontainiously appear on his back like the yari ashigaru in Shogun 2. It would be cool if they dropped them then picked them up after using their sword.

I don't think we'll see soldiers in any form of marching kit at any point, even when they're ambushed. For example, a Roman army if ambushed won't have soldiers carrying their full kit, and I don't think sarissa pikemen will be carrying their sarissa in travel form.

It would be cool to see things like this implemented, but more trouble than their worth IMO.

If you want to portray the traveling kit of an army, you'd better start with the baggage train, the ox carts, the mules and the hundreds of prostitutes.

It would be annoying but it would be a fun way to destroy phalanx armies by just ambushing thme.
So should phalanx units lose a considerable amount of melee skill if not in phalanx form or should the maybe just get more skill for being in phalanx form?

Pointless detail that isn't really worth the effort.
