Default No stamina penalty for defending troops, except pikemen.

Hey, guys. I'm pretty sure most of you, if not all of you, still play Rome 1 or a mod from it. Have you ever noticed that feature where a unit that is in formation, has "defend" on, and is defending from an attacking unit does not lose any stamina? I literally rely on this feature as part of my battle tactics. I line up heavy spearmen, have the bulk of the enemy army crash into it and leave them there fighting and trying their best against it for several minutes. When they are all exhausted and my spearmen are still fresh, I take the spearmen off defend and tell them to push forward and attack. The heavy spearmen are absolutely devastating at this! I use this feature a lot in Roma Surrectum 2 and I'm pretty sure it is in Rome vanilla too. For those of you who know about this, what do you think of the feature and would you like to see this in Rome 2? Personally, I really think it should be in there. When a unit is locking down a city street, and holding against an attacking enemy, it's usually the first line or two that are fighting while the rest are waiting to fill any slots if their comrades fall so they are not really doing anything in the back of the frontlines. Plus, it has a lot of strategic advantages and WINS battles. If you haven't noticed this feature, I really think you should try it. It can make all the difference when taking a city. Make sure to overlap that unit with a few more spearmen if you can spare them and line them up perfectly, makes the wall thicker and more spears to poke the enemy with. Does not work with pikemen! So, would you like to see this in Rome 2? If possible, for those of you who have used this, let me know what kind of extreme situations this tactic had allowed you to fight out of!

It would make kinda sense. But it should just be a slower rate of stamina loss instead of no loss at all. They are still fighting a battle after all.

Yeah, slower makes sense, but no stamina loss is just nonsensical. I would like to see a greater advantage for formation units just taking a charge instead of counter charging. In RTW, I never saw much of a point in just sitting there and taking a charge, I could at least get the charge bonus for counter-charging.

Thanks for your input, guys! Yes. Having the stamina go down slowly would make more sense as there are dudes in that unit still fighting. Also, I do believe that units in formation should end up fighting much more effectively than those who are out of formation and just charging. This way, tactics mean more.
