I might sound like the fun breaker here but I'm not excited about Total War Rome II anymore. In 2.012 I was as excited as I can't even describe. If I got a little more excited I would die of over-excitement.But I've heard and seen many things that I disliked in 2.013 and that spark is gone now.

Of course I'm still interested in the game and that's why I'm still here. The things that sound the most promising for me are

1)The battle changes, for example the AP system or the more meaningful maneuvers like more morale damage when flanking etc.

2)"Less sieges but more epic and more meaningful" as Jack said.I really hope the sieges will feel epic.

    3)The army's customization of names,banners and emblems.

There are a few more that could prove great but they could also prove bad or even terrible and I need to hear more about them before I decide if I like them or not. Those are

1)The army legacy. It is unclear for me in what extend the armies will keep their traits and skills after being annihilated and I need to know if the traits and skills will be damaged after that or not.

2)The province/region system. This will depend on how the player will be able to defend the unfortified regions and if the enemy armies will be able to pass behind your army without fight and attack your towns or not.

3)The army limit. This can lead to repetitive 20 versus 20 battles. It will depend on how they implement it.

4)The sea regions.Something tells me that I will either love or hate that feature. No middle ground for me about that.We don't know anything about it yet so we can't tell.It can be great or horrible.

5)The "capture points" thing outside of siege battles.Again this could either suck or be great depending on how they implement it.

I think many of us, including myself, try to fit every new snippet of info into our general view of the Total War games. What we have to remember is that all the new stuff we have heard about, all the stuff we haven't heard about and all the stuff that will stay the same will form some kind of synergy that only CA can see at the moment while we only have snippets.

Rome 2 is gonna be the best total war game to date <3 I'm just like you, I see all the positive stuff and don't care if it uses steam or if the sandals are a bit wrong xD Because all the good stuff overshadows the bad stuff so much. And it's fun with a change. The only TW games I'm not completely tired of is Empire(dartmod) and Shogun 2. So with the new system and features, it is a dream come true

I'm also checking the site everyday and Jacks profile if he has posted anything resently, lol haha ! I'm even getting a new pc for R2 and that's something I've never done for a game before. Yep! I'm a BIG total war fanatic !

I don't care if windows 8 can be used.
I care less that steam has to be used.

I am however very interested in how CA develop this game and what the outcome will be.
    It is Rome after all.

I have many announcements in my favourite short-list.

So, I'll stick to one of them: armies will retain their skills because of the new traditions system. With shogun2 you'd lose things like the wedge formation when a general died. That was a skill earned with the hard work of the men, and should remain in the army. I'm curious how the rest of the tech tree will work, but this is one of the most complex one in strategy games so far. Second to that comes only the province system.

    ----------

It should only be fair, to present both sides of the stories, never pick only the good or only the bad. So here is the bad as well. The game still feels like an evolution, not a revolution. The saddest thing about it, is that some of the "new" features advertised by the developers include things we've seen in Shogun2. Just like that.

All in all, the balance of good / bad is positive. And some of the practices are very common to returning fans, so it shouldn't mean that much.

It is sequel to Rome, best TW ever, what else there is to say about it?

But yeah, the production-values and scale of this game is bigger than ever in TW game, so that alone makes it worth waiting. Pretty much everything I read or hear about this game impresses me. I'm not happy about Steam for example, but if I have to use it, I guess I just use it then. Atleast it isn't Games for Windows, so I guess maybe I should be happy about it...

One thing I just value so much, don't know why, maybe it is a role-play thingy, but confirmation returning of random traits for leaders based on what they do, is a HUGE plus from me.

I know going thru R2 forum here can be painfull to read. People are really nitpicking and painting clouds to the sky, but usually people like that are the most vocal ones and not representative of the whole community.
