About Roman formations

Hey, I know in the important folder you can use the alternate darthmod formations.

For the romans I want them to have a check board formation like darthmod has it.

But in the important folder when I use those formations I cant get the check board formation.

So basically is there anything I can do to get them like that?

I have always simply used the standard double-line second formation which, after highlighting all your heavy infantry, produces just what I want (in two lines). Light inf, archers and spearmen and any reserves are then arranged around it. Highlight all and select Group with a new number (9) and they all march and stay aligned. Takes but a few moments.
