Icon1 A few new informations (?) from an article

Hey there I just found this article http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/total-...0,3012769.html .
This article is from a german gamer magazine ( obviously it is in german ) and was released today. My english isn't that perfect else I would translate it (maybe another person could do this?).

    Some stuff from the article:

    - Roman families to choose from : Julii, Corneli, Junii
    - Carthage has also 3 "factions" to choose from
    - Aim of the babarian tribes is to unite the babarian factions
    - Babarians seem to have a kind of council which consists of your tribe and also the others
    - Other factions tell you the reasons why they can't accept X in diplomacy ( example in the article: you ask for help attacking X, ally X refuses your request "cause his troops are needed at his borders" cause he is at war with another faction)
    - Each culture has 3 types of agents
    - Jesus appears in the game as an event but he has no influence on the game
    - The recruitment system should differentiate from faction to faction
    - You can move your troops without ships over the water, you just move them on the water, they stay one turn and build on their own unarmed transport ships (well that doesn't mean that you don't need fleets for escort)
    - You can't capture enemy ships and use them in your own fleet
    - You have different missions in the battles (for example in bridge battles you have to conquer a point on the other side of the bridge)
    - In siege battles houses also count for LoS, so behind every corner could be enemy troops
    - You can aim with units like catapults on your own

I don't know if some of this stuff was mentioned before if not enjoy it (and if you can speak the german language maybe read the article).

Else sorry for making this thread and just ignore it :p

    Edit:

    Artworks of the babarian agents:

    Dignitary:

    Champion:

Agents can be either male or female!

These are new to me, I wonder how the recruitment system will work. Not sure about the different missions in battles (kill or rout the enemy army seemed good enough). 3 agents per culture seems a bit low, but maybe it's enough.

The first one is new to me, the other two were logical, but it's nice they are confirmed. Tactical ambushes FTW

    +rep, good find.

We've known about those for months now.

    New and very much welcome.

    - Each culture has 3 types of agents
    Not new.

    - Jesus appears in the game as an event but he has no influence on the game
    Also not new.

    - The recruitment system should differentiate from faction to faction
    That's great.

    - You can move your troops without ships over the water, you just move them on the water, they stay one turn and build on their own unarmed transport ships (well that doesn't mean that you don't need fleets for escort)
Not new, but it's been expanded on.

    - You can't capture enemy ships and use them in your own fleet
    That sucks.

    - You have different missions in the battles (for example in bridge battles you have to conquer a point on the other side of the bridge)
    - In siege battles houses also count for LoS, so behind every corner could be enemy troops
    Good stuff.

    - You can aim with units like catapults on your own
Pretty sure we already knew that, and it was in FoTS so it's a no-brainer anyway.

Total War is a what-if scenario; what if Rome was conquered by Carthage? What if Sparta became a dominant world power? So having someone eliminating Jesus with an assassin is fair, as it is just another What-If scenario, changing how history was shaped based on your actions.

Religion is something that should be cared for and respected, but, that does not mean that we should never say anything that speaks out about it. It is that inability to accept jokes or small misdeeds that has caused so much religious strife in recent years.

If it is not fair to do that, then it is not fair to assassinate any other character in the game who has a real life counterpart in history. Afterall, they are as important as he is, as their actions shaped the world of today as well.

At least if you want to kill him, wait a few turns, for His sake!

But I fear lots of people will try to kill him. A lot of people love playing god and they(much like His Lordship) hate competition.

    Thanks all for response

Yes I already saw that some of this features were mentioned before, the fact that you can manually aim with catapults and else was new for me as I didn't play FoTS

Did someone already mention the functions of some agents? If not I would translate this part from the article

And also some fraction specific advantages

    thanks

Functions of the agents I have said already above ( only for the babarian ones as the agents of other cultures are not mentioned in the article).

For the persons who didn't play FotS like me the foreign Veterans could go with armies to strengthen them or stay in cities to give recruits an experience bonus. Also mentioned is that they maybe can take out other agents ( but not confirmed by CA).

    Advantages of the faction:

Suebi: They have the Berserks, once in close quarter fights they will fight till they die (high morale).

Iceni: They get satisfaction for their citizens with every war declaration, seems like they get a reward on raids and iron using.

Averni: They gain a higher income from handicraft goods and advantages on gold processing, also seems that they have a strong cavallry.

Carthage: Strong sea and trading nation with a satisfied population, seem to have a democracy, they have 3 political parties to choose from.

Macedon: High income and growth, advantages in handling with other greek factions, their neighbours mistrust them so it is difficult for them to form alliances.

Egypt: Strong combined forces, population mistrusts the greek upper class.

Parthia: Silk road, very tolerant so they have less risc of having revolts, no slavery --> less income.

Pontos: Spy network along the coast, good relationships to the other greek factions.

Sparta: Strong warriors, good public order, less advantages from ressources cause of their military drill.

Athen: Strong fleet but a weak army on the land, seems like they are at the beginning a vassal of macedon.

Epirus: Agricultural state, can recruit the best generals and admirals, suffers from the hate of the other greek factions.

Maybe they change some of this stuff but seems that this is confirmed

Hattori was my favourite faction in Shogun 2 because of spy advantage and if this true I'll love Pontos 2x

Its a bit disapointing that Religion has no influence on the game , it could be interesting theme to have populations under different types of religions, The Romans were very tolerant with most apart the Judaism .

Thanks for rest of the news most was new to me .
