Access denied (0x5) medieval expansions

Hey, basically i need help with fixing the access denied (0x5) problem that i keep on having with MTW2 Kingdoms expansions. I have the Gold version of MTW2 and the first disk run/installs perfectly, however i get...
"the following error occurred on the file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\kingdoms.exe'.

Access is denied.
(0x5)"

... just mere seconds into the installation of all/any of the expansions.
Tries changing permissions and security for a whole bunch of files, tried re-installing it two or three times (even changed the location of installation)
I tried it with/without the patch up to v1.05 (both the UK and the US versions of the Gold Patch)

Any pearls of wisdom would be most appreciated lads.

Assuming Vista,Win7, are you logged in as Administrator and disabled the UAC and installed anyplace but C:\Program Files (x86)?

Assuming Win8, After doing those I already listed, have you taken ownership of C: drive?
