Default Need help with 'Reverse Lag'

I appologize if this problem has been posted here before, but I could not find it. Please bear with me as I try to explain my problem.

After playin RTW vanilla with patch 1.5 and Bug-Fixer v3.36 installed (I added that to try to solve this problem) for a few hours the game starts to do what I have dubbed 'reverse lag.' Lag has always meant to me that the images on your screen cannot keep up with what is happening so the image 'freezes for a minute' and then it catches up and youve missed the men walking accross the screen or youre already dead in a FPS. In other words you have to sit there and wait to catch up. My problem is the opposite; I seem to jump forward.

The problem that I am having is in both the battle map and the campaign map. For instance, last weekend I was playin for 2 hours when all of a sudden it happened in a battle. The battle was 400 on 120(stupid rebels), so not nearly big enough to be a problem, and I began to move my cavalry forward to flank and they jumped forward twice in the blink of an eye. Before I knew it they were in battle with the rebel warband (light cavalry vs spears = bad). When I exited the battle I noticed that the tiny merchant carts on the roads were doing the same, so its not lag from the battle. I tried a restart and that fixed the problem, but in a few more hours it happened again.

I talked to a friend of mine (both programmers) and the only solution that we can come up with is a memory leak. My system has 2 gigs which should be plenty, but even the tiniest leak will fill up a bucket eventually. Anyways, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Hi!

Do you have a dual-core processor? If you do, I think that is the problem.

Have look at this thread from rtw.heavengames.com. The guy that posted had the same symptoms as you have.

You need to assign RTW to one core or something like that, it is explained fully in the link above.

    Hope it solves your problem.

    Good Luck.

Yes I do have an AMD dual core, thank you for the info. I tried updating my drivers and installing AMD's "Dual-Core Optimizer." So far it seems to have solved the problem. I got the drivers and optimizer here.

If this doesn't completely solve the problem, and I probably won't know for a couple of weeks, I'll repost.
