I was browsing the internet today looking for stuff on our beloved late Roman emperor Flavius Claudius Julianus when I stumbled upon a free book that was being digitalised by an association that specialises in preserving books that are no longer in print by uploading them to the internet. This one was written by Alphons Muecke on or before 1923, and I found a link to the whole book on Google Books. Unfortunately, it is in German, so I'd appreciate if someone who understands the language can tell me whether it is fiction or a historical account.

OK, so I'm turning this thread into a resource thread for ebooks on related topics. I just found a complete ebook on Julian, called The Emperor Julian by Robert Browning, 1973. It has a lot of interesting stuff, including an inscription about Julian from Gaul I was unaware of, and a few good images and illustrations which I also found very helpful.

This one was written by Alphons Muecke on or before 1923, and I found a link to the whole book on Google Books. Unfortunately, it is in German, so I'd appreciate if someone who understands the language can tell me whether it is fiction or a historical account.

My German isn't up to much but, as far as I can tell, Muecke's work is a serious biography. It comes in two volumes, both available as e-books, the first being an account of his military career and the second dealing with his life and writings.

I would add the excellent novel on Julian which I found by accident called The Death of the Gods.

I found a copy online and read it voraciously about 3 months ago. For an old novel, it is surprisingly modern in places and the end genuinely moved me.

There is also the play (not Ibsen's one!): Julian the Apostate by Christopher James Reithmuller.
