Default Tracia (Thrace) - Hellenistic kingdom or barbarian tribes?

    There are two possible reasons:

    1. Thrace (Thracia) will be Hellenistic kingdom founded by Lizymachus. Hellenistic culture, similar to Macedon - army, weapons, buildings etc. Lizymachus made kingdom in Hellenistic times.

    2. Thracian tribes - several factions of barbarian culture. They should be barbarian tribes with Hellenistic elements. Barbarian and Greek weapons, style of units etc.

For me it is number 2 barbarian tribes with Hellenistic elements. But I have to admit this is for gameplay reasons and not for historical ones as I don't know enough about Thracia to speak about the facts.

Probably a hybrid with both tribal and Hellenistic influences.

I think around the time the game starts the thracians will be united under the Lysimachus kingdom.

I would choose the 2) choice.

After all, the kingdom of Lysimachos was already destroyed at 275 B.C. which might be the starting date.

If I have understood well, the destruction of Lysimachos by Seleukos Nikator could have been the decisive move for a super-strong Successor Kingdom. Seleukos would have included Thrace and Makedonia to the Seleukid Kingdom, but he was betrayed by Ptolemaios Keraunos. The latter had fled to Seleukos for protection.

If that treason had not happened, Seleukides could have been much stronger...But ofc another treason or treasons would have happened also

Realistically speaking it should be neither, but Thracian Culture. But for gameplay reasons I went go with barbarian Culture

I'm guessing barbarian, since the city of Philippoupolis is called Pupludeva.

The Lysimachean Kingdom of Thrace was defunct by the presumed start day of the game.

Both actually.Hellenistic and Thracian elements were present in various degrees in Thrace, from the Greek colonies of the South to the Thracian tribes in the North.

Actually they did and they did. And they had their own culture as well. the northern Thracians got some Scythian influence, the Greek cities on the Black, Marmara and Aegean seas were sources of Greek influence; the Macedonians in the south were another source and the Celtic invasion just before the beginning of the game would've left its mark as well - there was a small Celtic kingdom in Thrace until the end of the 3rd century BCE.

The Thracian kings were hellenised to a great extent. The ordinary people on the other hand not so much, especially if they lived in the hinterland or the mountains.

    Yup, thats Thrace,
but I still voted kingdom, because thracians had stone cities with Greek looking buildings, and their culture was WAAAY more civilised than what you would call barberiens, bot ofc. officiallly they were called that way by GREEKS

I our start time frame many parts of Thracia was under control of the celtic kingdom of Tylis.
Also we have the some parts of the Odrysian kingdom, but the cost regions are under control of the Ptolemaic od macedonian kingdom.

A barbarian nation with some Hellenistic influence similar to Illyria. Sort of the opposite of Bosporus and Massilia which were Hellenistic with barbarian influence. I would love to see (and play as) these cross culture nations. Toss in a few others such as Baktria with the existing Pontus for some east meets west and you have more variety and in my opinion, more fun.

Barbarian tribes with hellenistic elements, naturally. Because we have more than enough hellenistic nations in the game already.

Thrace was a scattering of "barbarian" tribes at this time which had some Celtic influence. Greek influence was limited to the cities and upper-classes. Wasn't Tylis the most dominant of these Thracian nations?
